Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

His stats would suggest otherwise. Yes he’s not a world class attacking player but he is not ‘propa turd’. He works hard for the team and is giving everything when he plays for us. That’s a sea change from some players we’ve had in previous seasons. That’s the mentality we need from every player at Everton. Their ceiling should be their talent, not the fact that they can’t be arsed to run or work.
Ok he's just turd then.

Don't needs stats to tell me what I've seen from him in the last dozen games, I sincerely hope we don't sign anymore Andros townsends.

Nice sound fellers don't win you games

I think Townsend has done ok actually. The key for me, is it's a 2 year deal and no transfer fee. I see him as similar to a Walcott in ability and attitude, but we spent 20 odd million and gave him a huge 5 year deal from memory.

Those sort of bridging players are useful like Townsend. You might say Longstaff is another.

We had loads under Smith and early Moyes, Carsley, Gemmill, Pembridge, Naysmith, Weir, Campbell etc. None of them world beaters, but lads brought in of decent character, for now fees who did ok for the club.

I think Walcott was 3yrs but I take your point. I’m hoping we don’t see much of Townsend going forward. Started well, was poor the past 4/5 games I just hopes he’s not one of Rafael’s go to men, and plays over players in form

Exactly, but as you say, the key is contract length.

We also used to use the loan market very effectively.

Yeah like last summer we signed James, Allan, Doucoure and Godfrey and James made all the headlines but Doucoure has probably been our best player this season when fit - no hype on his signing though

So if Pickford goes to spurs in the summer who would you like to go for?

Cheap option would be Olsen, I thought he did alright for us

Dean Henderson would be ideal but expensive
I feel like Conte would be asking for keepers proven in top European club competition so hopefully not our Jordan even though he’s done it internationally

Be really difficult to replace Pickford and I never thought I’d be saying that before the second half of last season!

Olsen Jesus I thought he was average at best. If he goes we need a top keeper to replace him. Utd wouid want big Money for Henderson and I don’t think he’s done enough to warrant a price tag Utd will put on him

Other than that I haven’t a clue

Yeah he's really come out well so far this season, long may it continue.

Which also means he will have some suitors, hopefully Rafael doesn't upset him

When Olsen stepped in and covered for Pickford I can't remember him having a bad game.

Maybe watching us recently had blurred my memory lol
