Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

So if Davek decides after 18 games he cant support the manager any further that would be invalid?

Why is that any different to you sacking your support off after 12 games? Because if you asked Kev The Rat he would have said it was painfully obvious after 0 games that it wouldn't work so in his opinion you would have been full of ego for not giving up your support 12 games sooner...
And to be fair to him, it was. Not because of Benitezs history but more so he has never built a club up successfully over a prolonged period. He's always come in on the coattails of someone else's work, gets some results which bags him the fans for a while, then stagnates. He's a bad version of Mourinho, all the ego and stubbornness without being remotely as successful.

Then you add his history, the club was already divided before he'd worked a day in the job, his appointment made it 10x worse. We needed someone (and still do) to unite the fan base (as Carlo largely did) but build the structure and playing side over time. That side of it isn't Benitezs fault, it's a reflection of how useless the exec team is to appoint him in the first place, the farce of what he's done with with team selection, tactics, Digne and results is entirely down to him and his ego.

Moshiri is clearly invested fully in him but we know how that goes. We are further away from success than when we had BK and Martinez running the show, genuinely gone backwards on the pitch considerably under moshiri. That can't continue, which ironically is why Benitez is in the position he's in, Mosh clearly trusts him to do the above, but with what history? Nothing behind Benitez to say he's remotely capable of it. Again shows how ridiculously inept the exec team is.

On we go, we can all see it, feel it unravelling. I was hopeful under ancelotti, his reputation brought better players to the club, moshiri has deep pockets but for whatever reason that fell on its arse. I have zero optimism with the current management structure at the club, I have never felt like this about Everton, it's almost like I don't care anymore what happens. Whatever happens, we utterly deserve as we have been a joke, an absolute complete laughing stock of a club for the last 6 years.

We’re about to let a French international go, for what is essentially peanuts, all because he stood up to a bullying, dinosaur of a manager.
He's at his peak now. I'd rather sell him than DCL, Gray or Richi... Yes it could have been handled better, but it's still the right move to sell him.

I suspect we'll get a contribution to his wages between now and June, plus £25m as a fee when he goes permanently under the obligation to buy.

If he was two years younger he'd be worth £10m more, but in 18 months we'll be lucky to get £15m for him. Youth matters in football, and is valued (inaccurately)!

They aren't mutually exclusive, no.

But my proposal fixes the long-term financial issues at the club and allows us to keep our best young players until we CHOOSE to sell them. Your proposal is to sell the best young player ASAP to pay for previous poor transfers...and then what? Repeat the cycle over again? That worked well with Rooney, Stones and Lukaku.
Wasn't my proposal, was just being realistic. Calvert Lewin and Richarlison are almost certainly off during the summer given the current predicament

cant play in a 2.

SImple as that.

In a 3 hes much, much better.

Every manager seems to see him as some ball playing defensive midfielder. When the truth is hes a absolute liability as a holding midfielder.

If we play 3 in midfield with a actual defensive midfielder who can take the ball off the back four and allow allan an Doucoure to play further up the pitch and play their actual games. We would drastically improve as a balanced side.

There were times today where allan received the ball in midfield and Doucoure pushed up to support DCL and allan was surrounded by 5 Brighton players. What is he supposed to do as a footballer there? He couldn't even pass backwards because the passing lanes were completely cut off. It also meant that if the ball went in the air we had our smallest player tring to win headers alone in the center of midfield.

Its absolutely embarrassing, how can a professional manager look at that today and think this is working till the 78th minute.

I'd rather we just don't sell one of our better players to appease a manager who won't be here in 12 months. It's infuriating this whole situation. It's being encouraged from the top, they are absolutely convinced they've got the right man. They couldn't have got it more wrong.

Completely agree. Allan would be a great ball winner if he had any pace. He doesn’t so he needs a third midfielder in. Also having that third midfielders helps doucoure be his best as a close support act to the attackers.

Exactly, look at the arsenal match.

Doucoure was supporting Richarlison and wasn't giving the defense a second, allan was free to press and win balls in midfield and gomes was open for passes off the midfield and the defense and could run with the ball when needed. It worked!

But no that dinosaur saw that and thought 541 is the way to play.

Ha, that one win in what 12 is it, was a 92nd minute goal. It could be zero wins. Honestly how is anyone defending this garbage?
