Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

It's fairly obvious that selling Digne (£25m - £30m) is going to cover the bulk of the transfer fees for Myko (£17m) and N-Patz (£12m).

If both of them are salaried at around £55k to £60k per week then that's the same combined as Digne currently gets paid by himself.

In totality, we're spending very, very little to:

1) get several years younger at LB; and

2) bring in a new young RB to take over from Coleman. Which we all agree has been an urgent need for at least two summers now.

It's very good business in accountancy terms, and who's to say whether or not one, or both, of them will turn out to be great players?

We should be looking to sell Mina and Gomes to achieve similar in CB and CM. They both earn far too much for the little impact they have on the pitch. It's a vastly preferable approach when the only other option is selling Richarlison or DCL for £60m in the summer.
If we get £30m for Digne.

Yup. Doucouré looks far less effective in a two as well.

Bring in a Zakaria, Kamara, Guimares or even a McTominay to play alongside them in a three and it would make a pronounced positive difference.

Huge existing payroll at the club though, so we need to shift Delph, Gomes and/or Gbamin to create some wiggle room to allow us to pay a new face. Can't just have 3 senior CMs sitting in the stands every week picking up £200k between them.

Twitter is awash with Chelski fans fainting with delight at the idea he's available for loan with a £25m obligation to purchase.

We'll get between £25m and £30m, depending on how we decide to structure the deal.

Patterson & Mykolenko we’re both scouted by our old team who have now left. Rafael has the final say or paying a bit more than what was offered previously.

Both highly regarded by scouts throughout Europe

Mykolenko and Patterson seem to be two of the most highly rated young full backs in Europe.

Pickford
Patterson Godfrey Branthwaite Mykolenko
Nkounkou back in summer as backup left back and lets see if Reece Welch is good enough to be 4th choice centre back.

Coleman, Kenny, Mina, Holgate and Keane should all be sold pronto to release funds for a new centre back, a second right back and a young keeper.

Aside from defence, we really need that defensive midfielder. Gomes, Davies, Delph, Gbamin, Iwobi and perhaps also Allan need to be moved on to move on someone with similar profile to Patterson/Mykolenko.

Cannot be going into the season with Branthwaite, Godfrey and Welch. Cannot.

Godfrey can't defend. A complete liability as a centre back.

He is terrible under the aerial ball and has poor positional sense. Thats why his best games have been entirely at full back.

Looked very good last season and whenever its him and Mina.

The common issues seem to be:

1: moving him into a different position every game

2: Playing him next to Keane

3: Playing him between Keane/Coleman

Etc etc

The other centre backs bar Branthwaite need shifting pronto and one long term key player signed.

His good games have came at left back because his aerial and positional weaknesses are less exposed. He's not a good defender and his lack of ability in the air means I'm not sure he can be a good centre back in this league.
