Pickford
Patterson Mina NEW Mykolenko
Doucoure NEW Allan
Gray DCL Richy/Gordon
I can get behind that side for the rest of the season if it's possible but sadly I can't see either of the two new's coming in and I also think Richy and/or DCL will be gone in the Summer.
So could I but you`ve always got to factor in the rubbish manager deceisions like playing with a back 5.... I`d like Rafael to go to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-2-3, we arent that far away, its just criminal that we are being out numbered in CM and purposefully giving up possession. AT SOME POINT, if we want to progress we have to become a possession side, all the top sides are. I`d like us to go that way and dominate possession, it sure as hell beats being under pressure for 90 mins...

Thank you mate.

I really do understand all the anger directed towards the manager. I get it. He's not my cup of tea either.

But the suggestion that this exact same set of players is capable of a top eight finish without any additions, and therefore should be excused their current widespread crapness, is utterly incredible.
It’s mad what an actual tactician can do we with a group of players, I’m sure were in the top 4 this time last season

Digne wants out?? Apparently

Didn't he also say he didn't feel like playing.

Was a good signing but his form since last year has been poor, age profile now to get cash for him.

No FSW said he doesn’t want to play/be here . Digne has been posting images online with hashtags saying working hard , etc while training. He’s showing us that he is ready because I’m guessing he knows the Rafael is going to throw him under the bus.

Not straight away , but in time could very well be . We definitely need a new cb though , who can slot straight in

Definitely need a new CB.

Problem is we have:

Mina
Godfrey
Branthwaite
Keane
Holgate

I think we should sell 3 of these and then bring in one 'future' superstar.

By that, someone like Fofana at Leicester who came in and was brilliant day 1 while only being 20 years old.

If we need experience then get a 32+ year old short term as an old head.

With players like Nkounkou, Mykolenko, Branthwaite, Godfrey and Patterson i wonder if we will start with a higher line and bring in a centre back who is more athletic and powerful.

Need two new centre backs. Played five defenders yesterday, four of them are garbage and the other hasn’t won a header all season.

People where asking why Carlo wanted to bring it a top quality centre half… yesterday was your answer. Worst pairing in the league.

If we moved on the 16 players i listed (5 out of contract + Digne...with the others split this and next window) and needed 3 starting players + 3 squad players.

We would be able to bring in real quality.

I think we could hold onto DCL and Richarlison for another season and also extend their contracts if we did that.

If not then we would need 5 starters and 3 squad players and have a huge warchest and alot of wages free to use.

Digne out and Mykolenko + Patterson in is good business.

Replicate that and we wont go far wrong.

RB: Patterson/Coleman
CB: Godfrey/Branthwaite/Welch*
LB: Mykolenko/Nkounkou**

Sell Holgate / Mina / Keane for circa £35-40mil and release £230k ish in wages

Sign one of the u23 aged group big talents plus an experienced player 32+ on a short term deal.

*Welch just to make up the numbers
**Nkounkou back end of season

Its simple really.

Successful teams have huge prize money and commercial deals in comparison to non-successful teams.

Established clubs are rolling out youth players to promote into their squads or sell at a profit.

These teams can then reinvest that money to sign the best players and stay at the top.

How does a team like Everton break into this group and be successful without having comparable commercial deals and without having 3 top youth players to promote each season?

You need to play the FFP game where your squad value increases and when you sell a player for e.g £30mil you sign 2 players for £15mil each who then become worth £30mil each in a season or two.

Example: Digne leaves and Mykolenko becomes the next Roberto Carlos and Patterson the next Cafu.

Can we keep those players or would we sell them for huge profits and then reinvest into 2 more future world class full backs along with the next Ronaldo and Lewandowski.

Building like that also allows you to spend more money on established players as 'wheeling and dealing' opens up a larger credit within FFP.

I happen to think theres a 'top 8' group of 11 players in the squad. The issue is the tactics, fitness and the quality of the rest of the squad.

Its a numbers game and we need to have more good players.

Pure. Fantasy.

We'll finish 15th-12th this season. Vultures will get round our best players. We won't be able to attract "quality" to replace them.

Meanwhile we're in football manager mode letting under 23s play regularly.

Agreed, but I'd sell Mina and Keane and possibly loan out Branthwaite (imo)

100% with a more experienced cb also, this would be the one to slip straight in straight away. We can then focus on getting a statement cb signing or a potential superstar as you call it .

Question is though , can you trust Rafael to do this ?

Branthwaite should be playing, I know he was ill yesterday. He should be partnering Godfrey and the rest as you’ve stated.
