Hahah!

Well actually though, that's another one.

Rondon genuinely is hungry. I don't think he ever hasn't tried. He's just awful. An awful footballer who should never have been brought in.

Look at Spurs. Their fans were screaming about how it was the players and not just Nuno (even though they wanted Nuno gone). Suddenly an actual good manager comes in and oh look they all have that extra half a yard, they all know their jobs. It makes doing things like winning second balls a lot easier.
Just my little joke mate ? on the rest of the player's, I don't see any of them shirking it's just that they Don't seem to know what this manager wants them to do, as an observer,I feel the same as them.

So what? Its obvious.

He was on the bench lol do me a favour...

Youre posting over and over again about how you want Mykolenko AND Digne in the squad while missing that...

...we likely need to sell Digne to pay for Mykolenko.

Then youre blaming Benitez for that lol

Now youre blaming him for not playing someone who will likely be sold to bring in two players knowing that its dangerous to risk an injury.

What would you choose...

A: Keep Digne and make no signings.

B: Sell Digne and bring in Mykolenko + Patterson and perhaps more?
I see where you’re coming from Zat, but, Benitez could and should have not given the fans this particular stick to beat him with, simply by playing a back 4 and playing Godfrey left back. By going with a back 3 he was playing a system which suits Digne more than just about any other player at the club. Putting Digne on the bench and refusing to bring him on just made a bad situation worse.

If Benitez has, in his wisdom, decided that Digne needs to go and he is, as you say, frightened to risk him being injured, surely the best course of action would have been to leave him out of the squad altogether and let the fans and the press draw there own conclusions as to the reason.

Nah he’s right. We don’t sign up and coming players keen to make a name for themselves that see us as a step up anywhere near enough.
We do though?

Godfrey. Brantwhaite. Gray. That's 3 in the last 2 years.

Before that, we had Klaasen (who did see us as that, just wasn't the right fit at the time - was only 24 when he signed), Pickford (23), Keane (24), Vlasic, Lookman, DCL, Richarlison, Sandro even ffs.

We can't just be selective about it. We have signed those types of players. Just because they haven't all gone well doesn't mean they haven't been signed.

And then on the flip side of the coin, Mina has been our best defender when fit for the last few seasons. Digne has been consistently one of our top performers. They were both only 24 and 25 respectively when they were signed.

Hahahaha no you can’t count Gray, he’s 25 and has played for Leicester and won a league title. You are really really grasping at straws with this post, Klaassen ffs?

But we’ve been signing old experienced players for the past 6 years and we’ve just signed two young players in a week???

When I say old I mean over 25, we have been signing some younger players in that time but think on under FSW how many of our young up and coming players have been given a chance.

You are right of course. I just want shut of him!

Surely a signing on payment and normal wages (no idea what Turkish contracts are worth but I assume it's still insane at low te s of thousands per week for the national team's striker) will get is off the hook for a significant chunk, if not all, of what we were due to pay him.

Add into that going home, which means he's not shelling out yo be here and maintaining a home in Turkey, and actually playing, then he'd be daft not to.

Mind you I think this every transfer window with Tosun.

sportrac says he is on 60k a week, 3.1m per year

according to SalarySport, if Besiktas matched his wage, he would be their 6th highest paid player

He probably will sign for them in the summer

Because most of the ones we’ve been buying the last 7 years have showed the collective desire of an over pampered house cat.
Richarlison - is he hungry?
Vlasic - was he hungry?
Lookman?
Pickford?
Godfrey?
Holgate?

I'm not having a dig at the idea, I just can't stand the generic 'young and hungry' phrase. It means nothing. Every young player you sign is probably hungry to succeed mate. That's all it is.

Mykolenko and Patterson are good additions. We've moved decisively. I think we're paying a bit too much for both but overall no complaints. They'll both need time and aren't quick fixes.

But what if they go through rocky spells of form like Godfrey is. Are they suddenly not going to be 'hungry' anymore? That's why it's such an annoying turn of phrase to me. It's semantics really but it just gets me.

Lookman absolutely 100% was not hungry. See also Moise Kean.

Yeah, that's kind of basic stuff. I think most of our players have that desire. They're just in a shape that is totally wrong and half of them don't have a clue what they're doing. So again, being 'hungry' only gets you so far.

Dom won loads of first balls the other day but had no players within 30 yards of him because the system was wrong. Nothing to do with the lads being hungry or not. It's a phrase that winds me up tbh.
“Young and hungry” is an awful phrase
