i think the digne money has already gone on the New LB,RB

In FFP/profit sustainability would clear about £23mil if we sold him at £30mil.

Probably spent £5mil on the full backs this window so £18mil left.

Spend £30mil on Guimaraes on a 5 year deal and thats another £6mil.

If this is the level and age of player were after then we need to sell more players.

So far you could say we’ve spent about 10mil on the books buying these 2 players. I appreciate we will probably have sell big at some point to re-set are debt?
The only other hope is that the naming rights of the training ground are up, utd sold their naming rights for the training ground for 150m back in 2013...

Guimaraes would have been an ideal signing for us within a few months of him going to Lyon.

The boy is brilliant someone I could see Ancelotti signing for Madrid.

If we got him id be shocked... add a top centre back and my head would fall off.
What you think they would want for him, just not sure how we get the money for him

If we don't require the money immediately (i.e as long as its on the books at some point its ok, a bit like the Kean deal) would it make sense to loan Digne to Newcastle with an obligation to buy in the summer?
Absolute big fat NO.

Its one of the reasons we are in this financial mess.
We keep some players too long , give them away & loan them.
Almost every team (maybe not Manu or City ) strengthen their squad with profit on sales , Liverpool Coutinho , Chelsea Hazard , Leicester do it every year.

So No loans please.

See my post above on the FFP element.

Ive used £30mil as an example but i dont think £40mil is unreasonable.

We have Richarlison which may help attract him.

I can’t see him heading up to play for the geordies especially when chelsea are sniffing around. Aside from that should we be playing a part in letting a direct relegation rival improve an area of tgeir team where they are currently dire?

They are the one team in the world we can leverage to pay us what we want for our players right now

We won't go down mate (a debate for another thread), giving them the likes of Digne might end up being what saves them, but I'm not bothered about that, I'm more bothered about reconstructing our squad and we are much more likely to be able to get what we want from them than we are from the likes of Chelsea

They’re a definite sellers dream - i think digne will want a champs league team but money can talk i guess.

I must admit I’m genuinely bricking it about us being relegated- normally i’m really confident it won’t happen but the last 10 mins against watford, first half v wolves, palace and brighton have scared the life out of me - comprehensively outplayed by the mid to lower table teams with bizarre tactics being employed. Hopefully i’m over reacting
