Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Is that no to Diaz potentially joining Liverpool, or no to Phillips being linked to Prem clubs of which we are stupid enough to be one probably?!
I love how the media for certain clubs dictate the prices of players. His buy out is 80 but apparently he will only cost Liverpool 60.

Imagine if this was us, it will be 80mil Porto won’t budge, and Everton can’t afford that fee blah blah. As us can tell I hate the media lol

Hihi.... not good with numbers or the FFP thing..... what does the graph mean? Does it imply any penalty if spent more than certain threshold? Thanks..

No idea how Tottenham can apparently spend so much

Over the past 3 years they've spent £292m and recouped £97m

In the same period we've spent £173m and recouped £97m

They're just making this garbage up as they go along

Not to drag the transfer thread down a political rabbit hole but some people would say the same about people that wear poppies, the british army has deliberately killed children in Ireland (and countless other countries for that matter).

Yeah I dont want to derail the thread with this because it was just my reason in response to me not wanting a player.

What I will say is you can say that about every army thats ever existed unfortunately. What I always seen the poppy as representation of the sacrifice millions of people made in the 1st and 2nd world wars.

Having said all that as much as I dont want Duffy I do honestly think we need a starting as cb a priority. Keane as our number 1 cb is a absolutely terrifying situation to be in.

This post has all the hallmarks of a new financial employee at Everton trying to bluff their way through a profession... good luck in your new venture

Didn’t they take out a 200mi loan, also they would have lost fortunes from their ground being shut for 12months. Add in no champions league football for the last coupe of years.

It’s baffling how this all works. I see Chelsea owe their owner 1.5billion

Interesting when they first brought in FFP, they were going to include debt. They soon dropped that when they realised it would effect the majority of the big clubs, goes to show what a carve up it is.

Forest want £14mil for Brennan Johnson, £20mil was being quoted previously. According to Simon Jones at the Daily Mail we're interested along with Brentford, Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs.
Excellent player but £14m is a bit steep.

5 goals and 4 assists for a 20 year old who spent a season in League 1 (40 apps/10 goals/14 assists)

Has shades of Bellingham who is obviously a step above but has a bit of everything can score, assist and not afraid to get stuck in.

Forest pushing for a playoff spot under Steve Cooper (who is an excellent coach by the way) so they have every right to ask for that price.

For me, we have Simms, Onyango and Dobbin (if he signs his contract) who could make a great counter offer on loan should Forest be open for a move; offer £8-10m with add-on plus a loan

Diaz. We were linked while Ancelotti was here, then a little bit under Benitez. Continued smashing it with Porto so we've more than likely missed the boat on that.

He is another past it superstar..... high wages , low performance. Why would we sell James to buy Coutinho...?

Lots of media in Spain saying Coutinho is joining Villa on a loan till the end of the season, some saying there is an obligation to buy. It is believed Barca need this because they cannot sign new players without getting existing ones "off the books".

I personally would not have minded having him in the squad for the £18m fee that was reported and his massive wages. But I agree with you that it doesn't fit to get rid of James because you want players that are physically fit and play within a system and then sign Coutinho.
I think we are lacking creativity in the middle of the pitch, but who do we go for? Lingard? Barkley? There is no one that jumps out as a great option that we could get either on loan or at a reasonable price. So it may be someone unknown to most of us or someone different.

He looks rapid and a very good prospect.

Could have Gray/Gordon left and Brennan/Townsend right.

Where does £40mil come from?

The figures including all add ons are £16mil and £17mil. Without add ons £11mil and my guess is £12mil so £23mil.

Longstaff weve probably offered £2.5mil.

Selective accounting.

And the barcodes will be wanting £10mill minimum for Longstaff.

We have been missing a certain Jock presence on the pitch for the last few years.
Thinking on this from the Patterson thread, We are missing a Scouse presence in the team with Davies being the most senior. I know there is little can be done now but it is worth noting!?
