That's why we need to move on likes of Gomes, Delph, Mina etc. I have no issue with letting James go. I just thought it was poorly handled with us only getting the deal done after the point where we could reinvest. Coutinho will do great at Villa if he stays fit, but that's a huge question mark at this point.

Coutinho might do well at Villa under his mate Gerrard but he’d never have done well for us. He just wouldn’t be that bothered to go the extra mile for us.

You have zero idea what went on or what is going on. I bet there was no interest from us in Countinho for the exact reasons I mentioned, he is an aging sicknote with huge wages..EXACTLY what we do not need at this time. TBH, I am stunned that any blue would want him given his history and the state players like him have gotten us into.

We've got a kopite legend as boss so there's no dignity left in that regard.

I'm more talking about a calibre of player. Let's get it right...we need to win games sharpish. We're signing or are linked with no one that will help that.

Coutinho either does nothing or wins them games whilst on LOAN. We'll have Longstaff on a long contract though...

It’s interesting who’s picking the players at the moment. Ok Patterson we wanted in the summer, and Mykolenko has also been on our radar apparently. I’m not sure who’s making the decision going forward, will Rafael really want young players, as he probably knows he has a very small window to win over what fans he can.

Personally I hope we’re buying players for the next manager. And signing these two young players , is a good start

Rafael said in the summer before joining us that he wanted a club with a young squad that he could coach and take to the next level, he didn't want an ageing squad. He spoke about having a few players of experience who could offer that balance though.

He said he is a coach first and a manager after and that's where he's at his best on the training ground.

He also spoke a lot about homegrown players and how it's important to fill whichever team he manages with these kinds of players.
