Are you honestly saying you are against the Patterson and Mykolenko deals?

In a functioning squad and team, they're potentially good buys to be brought in and replace 1st team players.

We're not....so we'll be throwing them in and turning into Southampton.

But hey, they're young, we'll sell at a profit and everyone will be happy. Repeat

Richy won't be extending any contract.

If he had any sense he'd look for a move before his career nosedives under this manager.

He can then spend the transfer fee on Newcastle's academy
You're probably right. But the only way to convince him otherwise is to bring in reinforcements now, who can help push us back up the table.

By sheer coincidence, we actually need to bring in reinforcements now to help push us back up the table. Even bigger coincidence has seen us start doing exactly that, in the form of Mykolenko and Patterson.

If it doesn't convince him to stay, at least we will be in a position to ask for decent money for him. None of this "£60m and he's yours" rubbish.

Those two won't win us matches.

1) We have a non-functioning squad, with immediate needs at LB and RB. How on earth is buying an LB and an RB not a good move in that scenario?

2) Explain what you mean by turning into Southampton

3) When was the last time we bought a youngster with the deliberate aim of playing them regularly in order to sell them for a profit two years later? We often play youngsters out of desperation because too many of our more experienced signings are lame muppets, and we often get mugged by "bigger" clubs when we unearth a gem and are forced to let them go. But other than Stones and Lukaku, when have we ever shown any hint that it was a defined, planned strategy?

To become a functioning squad you have to start actually making transfers which reflect that.

Yeah we aren't a functioning squad at the moment but we do have to start somewhere and these are exactly the type of signings we should have been making when Moshiri came in.
