What mathematics grade did you get in school in December ?
We paid nearly 30 mill in transfer fees for Mykolenko and Patterson and wages for the both of them.
That is not covered by any James transfer, IF the 8mill fee is correct. Which i find hard to believe

FFP / Profit and sustainability.

If true then that would easily cover both signings which would be circa £5mil.

Why do we keep getting linked with wingers? It's the last position we need to strengthen. We badly need quality at CM and CB. Getting another winger seems totally pointless when Gray, Gordon, Richarlison and Townsend can all play out wide.

If nothing else there’s been some serious wages removed from the squad these past two windows

Walcott
Bernard
Kean
James
Digne

I’d wager they were probably all on 100k or more (except Kean)

Hopefully Tosun Siggurdson Keane Coleman Holgate Kenny Davies Delph Iwobi to follow as a start.
Bernard was absolute tosh. Like a kid playing with the dads. Woeful. Worth a gamble at the time but another overpaid waster.

He was absolutely infuriating for me. Showed in his first season under Silva that he could play at this level, then decided he just couldn’t be bothered contributing after that. Another player who just refused to hit his best level consistently for us even though it was in there all the time.

They may have been paid a lot, and they’ve made supporting Everton miserable these past few years but when some of them look back they’ll realise what a waste of their career it was larking about at Everton going through the motions getting manager after manager fired.

Imagine Gomes Bernard Digne Mina Richarlison all playing at their best levels, supported by some of the players we’ve had around them at times. We would have been absolutely brilliant but instead, apart from Richy DCL Doucoure almost every player has had prolonged periods of just getting absolutely nowhere near their best level under multiple different managers. It’s been a disgrace.

Nah I think Bernard's attitude was fine, he just wasn't very good and physically couldn't cope with the style of english football

Think he is talking about the FFP, with the fees spread over the length of the contracts.

If we got the 7.5 million in fees would cover the first yearly outlay on both full backs

I am sure the plastic accountants we have on the forum would break it down to the penny :)

As mentioned earlier, he was a free signing. All players get paid ffs, but yiu don’t lump all their wages on to the fee when talking about what they cost. Rondon was a free signing

Overpaying on wages over the last 5 or 6 years is one of the biggest issues at this club. It's not accurate at all that fees are more important. Basic maths shows that for a lot of transfers, the wage costs over the course of the contract will be significantly more than the fee.

For example, say a player signed for 20m on a 5 year deal at 100k p/w.

That is 100k x (5x52) = £26m wages over the contract. That's a 46m outlay overall.

Even a 10m player on a 3 year deal at 50k per week costs almost as much n wages as the fee.

We need to reduce fees of course, but wage reductions are just as important as they are an ongoing cost. And that's even before considering the cultural issues caused by huge wages being offered to average players. We are seen as a home for average PL players to come and finish their career whilst earning a huge wage, with no expectation to succeed. Is it any wonder we are a total joke.

I don't think it works like that.

Depending on the length of the contract (which I think was 5 years and 5 years), so take the total of 30M/5 years, so actually 6M Pounds, which then equates to 8M Euros...

James's wage was 200k a week, which Patterson and Mykolenko combined wages is about 80k...

So, James could be paying for both...
