I really wish people wouldn't use the this lad was free argument he's on a fortune per week in wages that could have been spent on someone of use.
So how much was Townsend?
He was free ffs
How much was Paterson? £12 mil not £12 mil plus his wages, that’s not how it’s reported

We don’t sing 60 grand plus 80 grand per week seamus Coleman, mate
Rondon was a free signing

Nah I think Bernard's attitude was fine, he just wasn't very good and physically couldn't cope with the style of english football

He was in that first season though. Remember when he’d just take down cross field passes with a bit of skill then drive at full backs. His assist v Leicester for Richarlison was brilliant, his display v Man U that season.

We didn’t get that player at all after that. He lost a yard of pace and just seemed to get bullied by players. This was a guy who had played in a World Cup semi and the CL regularly.

To be honest I didn't really rate him even at that point. There were glimpses of talent because he's a talented footballer, but he was just so unsuited to PL football. There were games were you would only notice he was on the pitch when he got subbed off. Most of his goals seemed to come in cups against lower league opponents. I think that sums him up really.

If nothing else there’s been some serious wages removed from the squad these past two windows

Walcott
Bernard
Kean
James
Digne

I’d wager they were probably all on 100k or more (except Kean)

Hopefully Tosun Siggurdson Keane Coleman Holgate Kenny Davies Delph Iwobi to follow as a start.
Fourteen Players...

I think we’ve probably saved on Carlo and his team. Probably on more than Rafael and a bigger team. Also apparently Madrid payed us compensation. Also Bolasie went as well. So another 70/80k a. Week saved.

If we shift Digne, Mina in the summer with hopefully a few others that you’ve mentioned. And the 4 players leaving at the if their contracts. There’s a good chance we’ve knocked 50mil off the wage bill in 12 months

As mentioned earlier, he was a free signing. All players get paid ffs, but yiu don’t lump all their wages on to the fee when talking about what they cost. Rondon was a free signing
I understand the frustration with continually playing him when he looks well off the pace and completely ineffective.

But, I genuinely don't understand the irritation with the decision to sign Rondon. His record suggested he could be effective for us, playing in a similar line striker role to DCL. He was coming in effectively as 3rd choice and was free.
