I'd be very surprised if we don't either sign or agree a pre contract for Sean longstaff in January. Contract running down, the gaffer likes him, he's stats this season are good and Newcastle will be In for plenty players
Not one to salivate over. Did read an article in the Athletic though that spoke about an injury problem he had with his knee that hindered his progress over the last couple of years and it is only this season he has felt comfortable with it again. I do recall United sniffing around him 3 or 4 years ago. We currently have a plethora of average, injury prone or under performing CM’s. I suspect we are stuck with Gbamin and Gomes. Delph will leave in the summer but for me we need to sell Davies to free up space for Longstaff unless we do make Europa league

Didn't Benitez play Jay Spearing over at the pit?
Not sure. Im
Sure he’s played plenty of crap midfielders over
The years. Sometimes you’re governed by your squad and injuries. Im
Not sure he would buy that type though, especially now. 15yrs ago it may have been different

He gave him his debut at Newcastle. Played him regularly. And we were linked in the summer .

….I understand that and you could be right but I think there’s a difference between ‘liking’ a player in a squad of ordinary players and ‘rating’ a player you would buy in preference to others in a global market.

Its an easy rumour for the press to run with for the reasons you cover in your post but I’m not aware we actually enquired about him. I’m sure we’ll find out in January if there’s something in it.
