Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Unbelievable how many fringe/hopeful World Cup players look to be staying at their clubs and getting no game time. I thought we’d be able to get 2-3 quality players who were hoping to play their way on to the plane to Qatar. Am I missing something?
Footballers aren't fundamentally smart. If they were, they would be accountants, and doctors, and mathematicians. Instead, they are known for being athletic and good at kicking a ball around and thats about it.

I think we've done decent business so far, especially given how early in the window it is.

Digne moving on as a 28 year old high earner, allowing us to bring in two young replacements for likely the same salary, is good news.

I've been saying for a while now, we have too many inconsistent/injured CBs. Keane or Holgate moving on would be useful. I'm surprised we haven't offered either to Newcastle to be honest. Branthwaite can cover where needed.

El Ghazi will add numbers and injury cover.

If we add a DM (not Longstaff) I'd be very happy with that. If we move 2 more out even better. Not sure about Alli. Obviously talented, but is he that committed anymore?

I think our priority needs to be two fold now.

1: Move out 3 of the 8 players i listed

2: Sign a DM. Depending on funds:
Tchouameni
Guimaraes
Kessie
Kamara
Zakaria

All available.

It would be odd to pay El Ghazi instead of adding his salary to the pot for a DM.

Like who?

So just to be clear, we’ve signed 3 players so far, none of whom would improve the strongest starting XI we could have put out of everybody was fit, Patterson possibly being the exception due to Coleman’s age.
That remains to be seen.

Mykolenko may be a better defender than Digne. Sopping crosses was his weak spot.

Patterson could very well be better than Coleman whose form has dropped off a cliff.

El Ghazi probably won’t start but will be ahead of Iwobii on the bench. He will certainly add depth and experience.

Dogne was a player I liked, but he has not been right for a while and Coleman has been past it for a few seasons. I don’t think we can jump to a conclusion either way just yet.

Hola Mr Benitez.

If your such a genius at all this transfer stuff, can you please get rid of all the absolute garbage players your predecessors have left you with, which has resulted in us having our worst season since Mike walker was manager (because it absolutley isn't your fault is it?). It would also really help if you could also stop falling out with our better players and then having to bin them off.

Can you also sign a quality cm or two (and play them in a better system than your current tactical set up) and also sign a CB who understands your bizarre tactical instructions about zonal marking?

Many thanks - Everton fans everywhere.

P.s. please dont sign any more rondons, in fact, please stop selecting rondon in the first team as he makes our eyes bleed.

Rondon may be if some use as an obstacle for the players to run around in training, or to scare the birds away from the finch farm pitches, but he's not an Everton CF.

I think that's fair tbh. Obviously there is upside on the fullbacks because of their age but doesn't feel like a transfer window to turn the season around.

Particularly as the next one in is likely to be a centre mid who would be a downgrade on existing players.

Hope there is a surprise signing being worked on - but not in an El Ghazi way.
