Footballers aren't fundamentally smart. If they were, they would be accountants, and doctors, and mathematicians. Instead, they are known for being athletic and good at kicking a ball around and thats about it.Unbelievable how many fringe/hopeful World Cup players look to be staying at their clubs and getting no game time. I thought we’d be able to get 2-3 quality players who were hoping to play their way on to the plane to Qatar. Am I missing something?
Could be a Lindgard at West Ham type situation where talent needs the right environment to flourishall about his motivation if he wants to get a spot for england. Has the talent maybe a new club just just be what he needs
I think we've done decent business so far, especially given how early in the window it is.
Digne moving on as a 28 year old high earner, allowing us to bring in two young replacements for likely the same salary, is good news.
I've been saying for a while now, we have too many inconsistent/injured CBs. Keane or Holgate moving on would be useful. I'm surprised we haven't offered either to Newcastle to be honest. Branthwaite can cover where needed.
El Ghazi will add numbers and injury cover.
If we add a DM (not Longstaff) I'd be very happy with that. If we move 2 more out even better. Not sure about Alli. Obviously talented, but is he that committed anymore?

Just read a link to that Burnley winger McNeil! Are we repeating the trick where we sign loads of players for the same position a la 'Number 10 gate' a few years ago?
Longstaff now and that's your lot. Probably be the deadline day move.
That remains to be seen.So just to be clear, we’ve signed 3 players so far, none of whom would improve the strongest starting XI we could have put out of everybody was fit, Patterson possibly being the exception due to Coleman’s age.
I think that's fair tbh. Obviously there is upside on the fullbacks because of their age but doesn't feel like a transfer window to turn the season around. So just to be clear, we’ve signed 3 players so far, none of whom would improve the strongest starting XI we could have put out of everybody was fit, Patterson possibly being the exception due to Coleman’s age.
Hahah bet you thought it couldn’t get any worseJust what we need to raise the spirits of our happy forum !
It’s just something that wouldn’t surprise me. Benitez probably thinking to himself who can I bring in, that they’ll hate more than me.Meh that's his agent. Would be daft.
Im just not buying this.Benitez didn't want El Ghazi though, to be clear, all the talk (and unfortunately it is from someone reliable) is that Moshiri decided El Ghazi was needed.
So I'm not convinced we can look at the deal and think it's sensible business.
