Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Oh on Lindstrom, and the comments about his finishing, I'll throw the vid up of him at Frankfurt, players who can't finish don't score those sorts of goals regularly. That's why 20m is a bargain because as his confidence keeps growing that's what we'll get. The one thing Moyes is very good at is getting lads confidence built up.

….i’m more concerned that he’s not getting on the end of chances than missing them. Now, perhaps he’s being told to sit in but I like to look at where players are when goals are scored. For example, Beto scores at the weekend from through balls and it looks like Ndiaye is on the scene whereas Lindstrom is 20 yards behind.

I like him, he’s talented but he needs to do more if he’s going to contribute in the top third. I’ll be encouraged to see him in the box when crosses come in from the other flank, I’ll be encouraged if he’s close to the action when the keeper spills one. I accept he might be playing under orders to be more restrained.

Possibly due to having a centre half playing at right back?

To be fair, the shape is sort of to blame for this.

With the ball now, we often become a 3421 - 3 centre backs, Lindstrom becomes a right wing back, Mykolenko pushes up, N'Diaye tucks in as a left-sided number 10 and Doucoure does that to the right of the striker.

In that system, N'Diaye will get into goal scoring areas far more than Lindstrom will.

Not suggesting that will always be the case and that Moyes will be wedded to this system, but he's a pseudo wing back being told to keep his width and stretch the pitch. He won't get many goal scoring chances (saying that he should have buried one on Saturday).

Is there are an argument to be made, he hasn't been helped by some of our finishers - i think im right is saying he gave DCL and Harrison to gilt edged chances that they fluffed.

Agree in the main though mate i think he will have to influence things in the top end more to be made permenant.

It's always a phone call with the manager isn't it in these kind of stories. Like he was convinced by the five year plan of a manager who probably won't be there in five weeks.
So many young players have been lured in by Spurs only to be chewed up and spit out as nothing....

Kids only getting a game at the minute because half their squads injured....

I think it's usually less to do with being convinced by what the manager actually says and more just being impressed that the manager spoke to you at all. Feeling wanted is a massive thing for these kids, a first team manager taking the time to talk to them at one club when maybe they only met the under 18s manager or the academy director at another can have a lot of sway.

I couldn’t care who scores goals in our last 2 home games where moyes has been able to implement his system we have score 3 vs spurs and 4 vs Leicester.
