Probably the entire squad and u21 squad as well.

Does Dele leaving change our situation in any way ? Or was he already off the pay role / not in the squad ?

Nah he is miles off it yet, still only showing it in flashes, there are loads of much better players in the Championship before Id even look at Bellingham tbh. There is a player in there just not yet though, you would be paying for the name atm.

Yeah he’d need time and considering our financial situation it’s not the right thing for us. He’s the type of transfer a more stable club would be looking into

I'm not sure any PL will go for him at the moment as I think he is still a bit raw and the cost is going to be too high, Id view him as being on a few clubs back burner so to speak. I can see him ending up abroad like his brother did tbh.

I think the young players who can come into a 23 man squad and make rotation appearances are what we need to be targeting.

They'll push the starters to perform better and look to take their positions.

Mad they signed him for £3mil.

The last I read was that Sunderland would be looking for £20mil.

I wouldn't even pay that tbh, he is nowhere near the level of a Tanaka or a Chakvetadze who you could probably get for around the same sort of fee (possibly a little bit more)

Very different age profiles though.

Signing a 25 and 26 year old from the championship 'may' bring a good premier league player...on the other hand an average squad player.

As you know, going for the younger players may not bring instant rewards but at the same price points...far greater potential upside.

Going back a few years, if we had signed Branthwaite for £30mil we'd all be delighted with that business now.

Obviously we need a mix of players but i think our focus should be on the u21 bracket simply because they offer us the greater upside.

I know it will divide opinions but we should try and bring Richy back for at least a loan till the end of the season if Spurs want. I mean ideally we bring a right winger. But Richy will bring goals, January is the not the month you get the best players out there and he might feel up for coming home and save us again

I agree with your first 3 paragraphs. I think it would’ve been a massive risk to pay Carlisle 30 million for Branthwaite though, for a club like us.

100% huge risk. But with risk comes upside.
