Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I do think we'll do some incoming transfers, even if it's only one. They might have to be creative about it but they'll be aware of the need first and foremost and the potential it has to give everyone a lift.

It will be interesting to see not just in January but in the coming years how the relationship with Roma is used to help both clubs out. That will have to be delicately managed but also has to used to both clubs advantage when the occasion permits.

Dan Friedkin has previously said that there is an "extraordinary solidity" between the companies that make up TFG so I think they'll want to explore this avenue between us and Roma too, if not in January then certainly over time. I think they will also be keen to show that a multi club model works, as they see it.

From the presser yesterday, dinner with the TFG guys sounded pally. Apparently they have respect for the hard yards that the gaffer has been putting in.

Imagine the fume if there’s a new contract…
I mean, I have full respect for the hard yards the gaffer has put in. It's fashionable to deride him, but he was a massive upgrade on the incompetent Frank Lampard who was treated like a conquering hero for getting us out of a hole he dug for himself. People talk about Lampard "saving us" in the 3-2 comeback win over Palace, but we shouldn't have had to beat Palace to stay up at that point in the first place - and we shouldn't have been 2-0 down at half-time either. He went on a massive slump (remember Burnley? - "I said to Woany and the lads there, Everton have forgotten how to win"). So, the sequence of events - solid start, appalling incompetent slump, and dramatic escape - gave Lampard a ridiculous sheen which quickly peeled off the following term. Dyche has been largely solid - except for the start this season which means he blew whatever chance he had to stay on.

So, even though I respect what he's done, it would be absolute insanity to give him an extension - and that's simply not going to happen.

Spare a thought for the Friedkins, though. They sack a manager at Roma and cause chaos and instability. They attempt to keep one here and they'll get the same result...

No wonder Americans struggle with soccerball.

Beto would claim a reasonable fee but Doucoure is nearly out of contract so we won't get much for him. people always talk about swap deals but they don't happen very often.

I'm sure both would be available, and would probably do a decent job for you guys.

Old Dychey has got a solid pair of clangers on him, I’ll say that. He has demonstrated impressive amounts of resolve, where others indeed have faltered.

We'd be mental to deprive ourselves of Doucoure without worthwhile compensation and a sufficient replacement. The bailiffs are NOT at the door, so I'd actually rather keep him than let him leave on the cheap. We are in a relegation battle.
