Emery on Sky Sports yesterday came out and said he has loads of potential - but hasn't shown it yet. Which is very honest, but unusual for a manager to come out and say about one of his players.

Code for: flogging a dead horse?

Thing is if Emery is struggling to draw out his potential what are Dyche's chances ? Especially if he's left on the bench getting Dyche fit.

….thats all good and well if another club wants to buy him and he’s happy to leave, otherwise he becomes another ordinary player on an extraordinary contract.

There’s plenty of ‘assets’ out of contract next season that haven’t been ‘protected’, it’ll take a major influx of players to replace them. It all seems so disjointed.

We had bids form Napoli in the summer didn't we mate, he has a market.

They made an enquiry no official bid as we rebuffed them, not sure what market he has unless they decide to come back, he is on fairly high wages.

I'd take the lad for what Villa 'actually' paid once the sell on fee went back to them, think around 12m was the real fee they handed over.

That's far too much for a player of his ability and skillset mate, way too much imo.

It is, but in terms of shifting a player it's not a prohibitive wage such as we saw with the Walsh and Brands signings in large part.

I cant remember the specifics, but believe the interest was real and there was a deal if we were willing, which we weren't.

Personally i dont have concerns there isnt a market for him.

I'm not gonna think about a player in terms of Dyche mate, we do that we are gonna end up crocking the manager after him as we'll end up with guys who get scared of a footy

I don't see another club giving him that sort of wage tbh, he is a poor player. We will see. At the end of the day knowing what we are like we will end up keeping him as Thewell just doesn't seem that bothered about the FB positions.

Nah - honestly he isn't.

He's in crap form, don't think he's recovered properly from his jibbed ankle he rushed back from twice.

A year and a half ago - he was a very solid defensive fullback.

60 for me is overpaying but I never thought the wages were the kind that got us in real crap.

He adds pace on the right and it's his natural position, so yeah I'd say he does add at least a new option. May also come in with a bit of a point to prove as well which won't hurt.

Hopefully Napoli’s scouting is as terrible as ours and they’ll still want to buy him despite his woeful performances.
