Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I’m nowhere drawing this comparison, but sometimes running a young teen out there to see what they have can yield big dividends. It did with Rooney. Harrison Armstrong isn’t the same, but I liked what I saw the other day. It was fresh and at times innovative. It was a spark. Not every player needs to spend x amount of time before the next rung. Sometimes you just have to go for it and see what happens.

Rooney and Armstrong in the same sentence is a bit mad.

Rooney is arguably the most naturally talented player this country has produced for about 50 years.

You don’t just trot youngsters out and they either come good or they don’t, the cream almost always rises to the top. Armstrong is a really talented lad, the fact he is where he is is testament to that. This notion that you just play youngsters and they either sink or swim is naive, as is any comparison with Rooney and any single player in our youth set up. The closest we’ve seen was Barkley and he still is nowhere near.

Only one of you actually did put them in the same sentence though to be fair.

Could do with some movement in the near future please

He’s crocked, and 2 years older. Not worth the gamble
Loan next season and that is a push with bis wages ect.
I was thinking Tim and Garner, too. Their absence has hurt us.
Really think we shud see tim in the 10 or as the advanced mid has it in his game imo
Thinking of comparisons to previous youth players, I'd say Tom Davies would be the closest. Young midfielder who got on the ball, always looking to move it forward and be positive.

It's important that the club have learnt from the mistakes that were made in handling Davies. If so, Armstrong may have a chance.
Maybe a little tbh would say more similar to barkley apart for not a physically ready. Wanted to get on the ball and had good technique, hope to see more of the lad, definately has shown talent is about how we develop him
