Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Been saying for a few weeks to spend anything we ideally need people out the door first this window. Right on the borderline for PSR for June so if we bring in without clearing decks first it’s a gamble and would force us to sell someone in the summer for less than value.
None of that will matter come June and we are relegated.
The time to spend is now , like right now.

If we get relegated any saleable players would go for cut price anyway so yours is a moot point worrying what may or may not happen PSR wise .
We need new players as soon as possible .

How do you know this?
Cursory glance of the accounts from last year and what’s happened since. TFG deal will have improved OpEx to some extent (loan facilitation isn’t crippling us now) but we’re still in a PSR hole. I know a couple of people at the club as well, said about Sherif a couple of weeks back.

We probably have around 8/10m to play with in terms of PSR pre June. Not 100% because obviously I’m not looking at the actual balance sheet but listening to Moyes as well it doesn’t look likely we’ll break the bank.

Is that you The Esk ? 🤔🧐

It will come down to deadline day / day before as usual and if we're lucky. It's symptomatic of our weak position and having to wait for selling clubs to make decisions.

Jesus god no 🤣.

We have wiggle room to spend it would just mean a big sale is needed pre June or we’d need to seal a stadium sponsor quicker.

I think the hesitation is that we can do more with what we have the later the window goes on.

This is the mentality every year and 100% of the time it leads to us scrambling around on deadline day and getting nobody, or wastes of space like Dele Alli. If that’s Thelwell’s mindset then sack him today.

I get the sentiment but it’s the reality of where we are.

If you look around the league nobody is spending massive yet, the clubs still believe PSR has teeth. Newcastle would have gone all out otherwise with an outside shot of a title.

Quite possibly - could have been quite a dramatic story arc, what with City falling away.

Funny to think that the cartel is slowly killing the product.

We can make a sale in June to offset any signings now
