Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

So far, only 9 recorded PL transfers according to the bbc listings.

It seems that no-one is in a particular hurry this window. Of course it does not mean we shouldn’t be, but indicative of a slow market, maybe the bubble has really burst.

Even City are slow to market.

It also seems to indicate that PSR hasn't evaporated, clubs are still nervous about it.

The macro-economic climate (sorry to sound smartassed) isn't amazing either - the US aside, and that may be a bubble anyway.

….Haaland extended his contract until 2034. Imagine being guaranteed mega bucks for another 9 years.

The longer I think about the more it annoys me that we spent 1/3 of our money in summer on a 3rd/4th choice CB instead on what really our problem was, no matter whether Dyche or another manager, attack.

I see potential in O Brien and I think we paid a fair price in the market.

We had a defense that was one of the best in the league last year and absolutely needed someone as a back up even before Branthwaite was injured. Godfrey went pretty early, and going into the season with Keane and Holgate wasn't a solution.

See also Chermiti last summer we paid 16m for potential. In our position we cannot do that unless they can contribute as well. He does have some but Chermiti was always going to take time with such a small budget we spent it on Chermiti and Beto when we were crying out for pace and a goal scorer. Re O'Brien I agree and that smacked of no allignment between Dyche and KT, also that we probably thought United would pay for Branthwaite.

Did we not buy O’Brien on the basis that we would possibly have to sell Branthwaite.

If the takeover failed our cash flow was a problem and we could have faced selling this window. Time will tell as
to whether we will need to sell before end of June or next window. May have been sensible to get him in early to get up to speed. Risk management

We never spent that much on him. And the initial payment was probably zero

The only reason we got Beto was that no fee was paid straight away for him.

I get that but that is still funds even if its future funds that could have been spent on a wide forward. I get it hasn't been easy with the chaos off the field and financial constraints and probably Moshiri interfering too, but KT and the club have made some strange moves considering we need pace and goals in the team NOW. Potential is good and would rather we mostly did spend on that than ageing big waged squad players from other clubs, but will repeat they need to be able to contribute something to the first team too, Chermiti is a project when the house is falling down and Beto never suited the way we play.

Striker and left back are a must for me, and then a right winter

Dewsbury Hall would be great but CM not as vital to improve as other areas, although it does not improving. but we have missed Garner and Iroegebenum for most of the campaign and they will improve the side

Cancelling Broja’s loan is a must. realistically even if he’s fit by end of March, he s not making much of an impact this season.

I imagine we would have to pay a small fee and I think Chelsea were covering some wages so something would need to be figured out there

It would make sense to take one of theirs on loan if we do cancel it as a quid pro quo, but it means one big possible target would be out of reach.

Evan Ferguson, available for loan, and a huge talent. Give him a chance up front and actually supply him with service and it could be a huge win for all concerned. Then sign him permanently in the summer when the cash can flow and give him the no 9

It looks like we might have a bit to spend considering the Numuah link. We will also have a bit of cash and PSR leverage from the Cannon sale

Chilwell is out of favour at Chelsea, a loan move has been mooted in the press but what about a small fee with add ons after appearances and time? makes it low risk as if he hits those appearances than hes staying fit, if not then we havent spent much. possibly offer a short contract with option to extend as this is the kind of transfer that’s stung us before. however i think he does have more ability than the likes of Walcott, Schneiderlin, Bolasie etc.

wages and a permanent deal may be an issue, but again we need to stop looking at ourselves as fodder. next season we’re in the best stadium in the league, with huge investment to sign quality players
