Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

As for the need to go try find a striker, if we are t selling him, then we currently have one whose got a 1/3 strike rate and whose goals per minutes at us reflects that. Beto.

If we start him he'll chip in with that rate, it'd be a far better option than getting rid now and then spending another load of money on a panic buy of another striker who has zero guarantee of not being worse.

Dyche was wedded to playing DCL because his system demanded it - Moyes system usually relies on a striker running the channels, something Beto is probs my better at than DCL due to being pretty fast and having bags of energy too.

Is he the mong term solution, hell no, is he good enough if he starts to grab 5-7 goals over the second half of the season - yup.

Buying some dross just to feel like we are doing something would be stupid as hell, all it does it create a future unsellable player on the squad we need to get shut off.
Biggest problem Beto has is he’s clearly playing a league or two above his level.

He’s about 5 yards off the pace of the game, we really struggle when he starts matches. He’s ok once other players around him have tired around 70ish mins as it’s a leveller.

Fresh from the start you can see he’s not at this level.

Maybe but I bet he scores more than Dom

I bet you he doesn’t.

He’s Stracqualursi with finishing. He plays exactly how you’d expect a guy who was working at kfc 5 years ago to play.

Fairly quick and strong, terrible in the air. Finishes alright in the box but pretty awful everywhere else. He’s also so far off the pace of the game it’s laughable. He’ll never react first to a clearance/50/50 break of the ball.

I bet you he never does.
Not in total i mean in a run of games currently he would in my view. Its all opinions, but he buries one of the chances on Wednesday for me. Dom has no confidence right now.

But we don't play to Beto's strengths of through balls and don't get me wrong he isn't great he is very raw and clumsy but has a finish in him. It was a strange signing generally and does make me question our scouting as they seemed to see a big bloke and presume he is just a target man. Anyway its moot as I doubt he ever gets a long run or makes it here for the all round game reasons mentioned

He is a bit better than Straq scoring double figures in Italy is alright and considering the minutes he has had he has been more of a goal threat than Dom of late. I don't disagree with the rest mind his skill and football IQ is low, it was the wrong singning and profile, he is not of the level all round and we just don't play the way that suits him and he can't bully defenders here like maybe he did in Italy.

Bournemouth have spent £250m net the past 3 years.

We need to do likewise - hopefully we spend it well.

Bournemouth didnt have to pay to build a stadium though. Its the impact of psr for essentially building a stadium without any investment thats killing us.

We'll end up with a debt free stadium at the end of it but unfortunately the new owners first thing will be to put the outstanding debt of the club onto the stadium.

Meaning we should of just taken the loan out on the stadium to begin with and it wouldnt of crippled the club. Seeing as we've ended up with worst of both worlds this way

No mate, that was 70m wasted.

Beto, Maupay, Chermo, JOB money.

70m we could have spent in a vastly better way.

Theres almost 200m worth of players there mate, not 70m.
As others have suggested, it was our financial situation that led to these signings.

I reckon they were the best we could get with the pay nothing for the first season, you're not going to sign any decent players when doing that.

Maupay was just horrendous

I really don’t want to sound like a bedwetter but I will start feeling somewhat concerned about our new ownership if we don’t have a player or two in by next Saturday. They should be absolutely desperate to protect their investment and avoid relegation at all costs.

You’re not a bedwetter, thought that saying would get binned after years and years of bad windows?
