Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

You think TFG put the money into the club that they have, and then trust their whole asset to Thelwell, a DOF who could be gone in a few months?

I'd be surprised.

Particularly given how hands on they've been with transfers at Roma. You know, like physically going to get the players themselves.

Do you think they let Thelwell make the call on Dyche too then? After all, he managed the club, why would TFG need to get involved?
So if you back to Mark Douglas's last i piece he said the Friedkins were going to lean on Moyes's transfers expertise, so that suggests to me they'll let him select the targets and then Thelwell is charged with cutting the deal within the PSR limits.

As far them being hands on,just because he picked Lukaku in his plane doesn't suggest for one minute he's involved in negotiations,it's purely a flex Dan Friedkins part ha

Dyche made the call on Dyche...no one else, and thank god he did.

That's every manager.

But ultimately, no player should come in without DOF approval.

I suspect thats where Moyes will end up - a DOF type role.

Players do come in without managers knowing who they are, or whether they wanted them or not - it has here under Ancelotti. And it's happened elsewhere, like Barkley at Chelsea.

Players don't come in without DOF approval.
I agree, but isnt it the DoF role to implement a style right through the academy to first team.

Then he should employ a manager to suit the 'project'

Anyway, i guess now we have that many holes to fill they are probably discussing whats the priority with the what budget they have.

This guy has to be a wind up.

That’s the rumour isn’t it?

And his manager said his not physically or mentally fit to play games.

Not that he’s injured …

So he’s not taking care of himself physically and doesn’t seem to want to change that by the sounds of things ….

He’s basically the Irish Delle Ali … but wasn’t as good in the first place

People say this (I may have in the past!) but I've yet to see any evidence that's the actual job.

I meant Charlie Sweet.

But for what it's worth, he'll be regularly tested. If he's coked up regularly it'll show up, AND if it's true then the club will be on it. But young lad, head turned by money and clearly poorly advised if its true. No smoke without fire I guess

The point is we shouldn't be making decisions on two results. We needed players before, Moyes has said as much. We just lost two. We need players even more now.
Were did i say we didn't need players, all that was said was i feel more 'at ease' with it, with Moyes in charge and i'm happy for him to take his time to get the right players.

Its a very 1 dimensional way of looking at it.

Shouldn't you be trying to be able to play a whole bunch of styles and different positions.
Especially if nowadays the main remit from an academy is to sell players? You coach players to suit 1 particular style you are only going to get clubs similar after those players.

Teams change and evolve, and should be able to play in different ways and use different types of players to change that.

I would say the U18s and U21s should play the same way as the first team, surely if they get called up then the transition shouldnt be so hard as they are already used to playing that way.

I guess it would be not easy but easier to breakthrough to the first team.
