Agreed I said this this morning also. Beto is a completely different type of striker to DCL so the system has to be tweaked. That means playing a midfielder behind him who can thread balls for him to run on to. That player is Harrison Armstrong. We need to get over the phobia of not “risking” youngsters. He’s the only midfielder we currently have who can play those type of through balls. Anyone who watches the U21’s have seen him do it regularly, and he showed it again against Peterborough in the cup. He has vision, and can play. Doucoure, can’t. Absolutely pointless pumping balls up either from deep, or wide areas for Beto because despite his size, that just isn’t his game. Has to be Beto up top, Nidiaye, Armstrong and Lindstrom behind him.

I mean let’s be fair here - he did negotiate not to pay anything until the lad played for us.

Fairly Everton that turn of events, when he immediately gets crocked again with a different injury.

From Chelsea side, they are never going to agree to take him back at their own expense if we broke him.

Must admit, I felt worried after listening. Others might feel differently, but I did . . .

Theres Villa’s recruitment. Several top quality deals already done.
Then theres Everton and Telliwell. No deals and stuck with a croc because Thelltit forgot to put an injury clause in the loan deal for Broja.
Contrast and compare.

He did put in an injury clause, at the start of the contract. Cant imagine many teams loaning a known injury prone player out and saying the other club doesn’t pay anything in the event of an injury at any point in the contract.

Not saying Kev isn’t a tit for bringing in a player this fragile when we have a regularly injured Dom, a chronically injured Chermiti, and a persistently random Beto. It could have worked out brilliantly. It has failed spectacularly. He gambled and lost. But don’t think he could have done more on the contract. The solution was to stay well clear (and I think if fit, Broja could be fantastic - but he never is).

We’ve been fixated on this lad for years. It’s weird.
