Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Even if Thelwell does go he will be replaced. The backseat nature of how TFG seem to operate mean that there will always be someone in that role, you can argue all day about what you want to call it, DoF, Sporting Director, Technical Director, hell Man Utd have all 3 roles on the go!! My point is that Moyes will never have the run of things like he did under Kenwright, clubs just don't operate like that anymore.
I would trust Moyes more than Thelwell

And what if they beat us and narrow it to 3 points and Wolves beat Villa this weekend and narrow their gap to 4?

In any case, it wouldn't be a great idea to do nothing even if we win. The three games so far under Moyes we lost against a mediocre Villa, beat a second string Spurs who aren't even playing for their manager and were dominated most of the game by Brighton while we offered hardly any threat.

We cant be making it a virtue to sign no players when we've just lost 2 in one game and when we needed 2 before they got injured.
then we have won 2 out of 4 and are still more points clear than we would have been with dyche and his draws.

Defending Dyche as you did despite the shambolic results (3 wins out of 19 all season and STILL being the only side Saints have beaten) and then still poking holes at the 2 wins we've had since he was sacked and Moyes was brought in is the most you thing ever.

Last thing I want us to do is spend a large sum for the sake of it.... You end up with Cenk Tosun and Beto type signings. I'm all for buying players under 25 with at least some resale value. Moise Kean was a perfect example of that, got everything penny back for him and he didn't exactly set the world on fire.

That's just a dumbing down of expectations.

I dont believe we'll see anything other than a single signing in this window.

And this is where Moyes really earns his corn: all of his career at Everton he talked down the possibility of spending and trophy winning.

Obviously the latter isn't an issue right now, but we have new owners with - apparently - long pockets, but he'll stand guard over their cash for them.

Moyes is all about managing fans as much as about managing a team.

How is the status of Broja's loan deal a bad reflection on our new owners?
Because any other team would have cancelled the loan deal, as we have a player here now who can't and won't play for the rest of the season, so why don't they support the manager and give him the tools to work with ie another loan spot and pay this one off.

when Newcastle owners came in and they were down the bottom of the league they made a couple of signings to help them climb the table, these guys have been in mid Dec we are now in last 7 days of the transfer window and zilch from them ????
