Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

On the money mostly but id take chilwell all day long !
A good player, but another one no stranger to injury issues. Then there's the wages he's likely to be on which could be a stumbling block. We need to win games, so striker/attacking player has to be priority. If needs be Young can be the covering left back.

Would be peak Everton to not bring in an attacker with Broja/DCL/Chermiti all injured but two proper left backs sorted.

Is Lewis Ferguson back fit? He’d be perfect for that #10 role and seems like a DM signing. Wonder how much he’d cost

Good shout, lads got ability. The only worry is that he’s yet another one just returning from a long term injury. A few on here having a go at Thelwell over the Broja deal so some would have the pitchforks out if we went for Ferguson. No guarantee that Garner & Ireogbunam last out the season either, when they return and a lot of faith being placed on them at the minute it seems, considering their recent lay offs. Be a lot of pressure on young Armstrongs shoulders should our curse continue. I’d fully expect a couple of rabbits out the hat in next few days, it simply has to happen.

We don't need Chilwell, Moyes will 'fix' Mykolenko until the end of the season.
Garner and Iroegbunam are on the way back and can replace Mangala.
It's possible we're waiting to see if we beat Leicester on Saturday before signing a striker (or anyone?) in this window?

There are still 2 days of the window left after Saturday so the result of that game maybe says who will come for the last 3.5 months of this season? If we win on Saturday then 2 out of the 3 of Ipswich, Wolves and Leicester would have to win 4 more games than we do of the last 14 (after we've played Liverpool). If we win 1 of 14 they have to win 5 of 14, we win 2 of 14 they have to win 6 of 14 and if we win 3 of our last 14 games two of those three have to win half of their remaining games. That's not going to happen but I hope we get some sort of reinforcements to help out
If the club have clear targets they want and can get them, they need to do it asap not dilly-dally based on who wins what games by deadline day. A win over Leics really shouldn't alter our plans unless we're thinking about taking a gamble on 3rd/4th/5th choice options just because they are available.

A striker is most definitely needed, but wouldn't surprise me if we go with what we've got if DCL and Chermiti are not out for too long.

Can we not just get the best striker from the womens team and draw a muzzy on her and call her Bob?

Noboy will know, just us.

Whatever that's fine but Moyes will never be 100% in control of transfers as that is just not how clubs work anymore. The work he did here years ago was exactly that, years ago. Player valuations were very different back then and he managed to find a number of good deals that worked out but there were more than a few duffers imo and at West Ham same again some good but also some expensive trash on big wages. I'm of the opinion that if the main candidate that TFG originally wanted becomes available in the summer, don't be surprised if they still want to speak to that person, Moyes staff are all only on short term contracts till the summer which doesn't suggest anything long term and Moyes contract can easily be sorted.
You should be a Manager. Unrivalled in motivational speaking.

Can’t see it mate TFG, won’t make another De Rossi gaff here, particularly if he continues on the current trajectory.

The key word it you read between the lines of what TFG and Moyes has said is “stability”.

Yes I mean the staff being short term is curious, but there are other answers for this.

I suspect both he and Ranieri are probably quite rooted at Roma. I wonder if an acknowlement has been that football is quite a unique industry, and finding people with decades of experience is helpful.

The more I see re Dyche, is that they were trying to keep him too.

So I don't think they jettison Moyes, not do I think there is some magic number 1 figure they have in mind.

What's more likely for Moyes leaving is they get a CEO/Dof in who.dknt want him. But if that's Weir, it seems unlikely.

Me too (as a player over Mykolenko) but if we've still got to watch what we spend for this season it might need spending further up the pitch for now depending on what happens on Saturday.
Agree but if chelsea are playing hardball over Broja and chilwell was the makeweight it might work if we can just buy one or even 2 forwards and sell Beto
