Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

We're doomed.

There is a video where he's saying confident of bringing 2 or 3 in though. He's said it a few times.
And he also said in his last pre match presser that him and the recruitment team had their ducks in a row and were ready to make moves.

I imagine the two weekend injuries have shuffled the priorities and maybe prompted a rethink but the key thing seems to be there is a consistent message they want to and can make transfers.

I’m concerned by the silence but it’s not quite the same situation we’ve had in recent windows where we had literally no money.

Maupay, Vinagre, Harrison (just wages) broja, Danjuma, Beto have all been poor signings and wastes of money and/or loan spaces. Young last season was on that list but has been ok start of this season.

The rest have or will contribute.
Broja has barely played, but the deal was reported that we weren't paying his wages until fit - we may also be able to send him back to Chelsea in exchange for another player.

Danjuma we paid 3m on loan for a proven PL player who could play anywhere across the front 3. Dyche clearly didn't fancy him.

Harrison - Dyche clearly liked him. Can also play multiple positions. No loan fee, just wages..

Maupay - we have got a fee from Brentford for and Marseille. It's a minor hit in terms of value.

Young has played LB, RB, LW, RW for us. He is available every game.

Beto - there seems to be interest in him, I suspect we'll take a small loss on him.

He's also brought in around £100m profit on players while shedding the club of some very high earners (Gomes, Mina etc). During a time when we've been teetering on relegation and dealing with PSR compliance. If he leaves in the summer he can hold his head high.

If Moyes doesn’t think Beto is good enough, which he isn’t, why keep him?

Sell and get in one or two that he believes can improve the squad.

He cannot hold the ball up and it puts us under so much pressure.
If we are going on can’t hold the ball up I’d try and sell Daucoure before him. He kills every attack he pretty much takes part in. Only problem is no one wants him

They haven’t been good signings for us though in terms of actually contributing for us in the pitch.

Im not arguing about the necessary financial implications as such (even though Harrison is on supposedly around £90k a week) as I do think he has done a decent job in terms of resolving the finances as we haven’t breached this year whereas previous years weren’t under his watch.

I know it's Everton, hopes have been dashed in the past but I think it's highly unlikely that moyes who is very fastidious is going to leave the squad bare for the rest of season. Still a week left If nothing happens I'll be peeved too, the doommongering is a little excessive in my mind do your thing I guess

My issue with thelwell is that he seems to get hyper fixated on targets over a lengthy period of time that he's always been partial to , which can create tunnel vision which can be an impediment when you have limited resources

But is that the DoF issue or the manager, because nobody was particularly covering themselves in glory under Lampard or Dyche and the DoF doesn't pick the team.

I'd also say, Young has contributed a lot, so has Harrison.

People are bemoaning the lack of quality in the squad and the need to use players like Doucoure - who nobody else wants and is on very high wages. If we can't sell that type of player we wait for contracts to expire, sell young players or our best players (which we have done) which means we lack funds to improve and must then find sellable assets at lower value than we've just sold (in a crowded market and with an unattractive offer - relegation and Dycheball).

It's unrealistic to expect that change to happen quickly and easily. Unless there is something I'm missing about our situation that would allow us to attract players, add more quality or depth?
