Spectacular revisionism there. He was crap for us; his decision making was woeful and his value was only heading one way if he stayed. I’ll die on the hill that the AG transfer was one of those that worked out perfectly for all parties concerned. We got a great price at the time, he got to play for a club whose tactics don’t make the fans’ eyes bleed on the regular and they got a player who has appreciated in value and ability pretty sharply.

Gordon, Onana and Richardson were great deals and we got much more money than we should at the time.
Gordon was always gonna come good with time, and we were not the right place for him.

I said exactly that to my geordie mate when the transfer was happening.

Our fans didn't seem arsed, theirs seemed excited. He gets to play in a system that suits him and we got to clear PSR issues.
