Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Rubbish transfer stories this morning, basically the same as yesterday;

Southampton asking for £9m for Walker Peters, with less than 6 months on his deal
Ajax want £30m for Brobbey
Rangers want over £25m for Igamane
Everton may terminate Harrison's loan to free up a domestic loan place for one of the Chelsea Three
Newcastle want £10m for Sean Longstaff, we would prefer an loan with obligation to buy (we dont currently have a domestic loan slot available)

We still seem to be in the "plotting" and "mulling" phase of the transfer window,
rather than the "swooping" and "raiding"
Brian Ebenezer Brobbey
24/5 Season in Dutch league...1 goal in 17
£25m
Sounds ideal for us

Christ what a depressing list that is.
Going with what we’ve got may not be so bad after all.

I've not been expecting anything until after the Leicester game. Whoever we signed would have been unlikely to feature in it anyway.

The result will dictate if we need to go into panic mode or not.

10m for longstaff doesnt seem overly priced in todays market.

The more quiet this window is the more i think there will be a huge flush of the club in the summer from all departments.

That could include DoF and maybe the manager depending on the remaining games of the season.

If the last few January windows thought us anything it's expect to be disappointed.
Remember a couple of years back when normal decent mentally stable posters lost their tiny minds because Southampton beat us to the signing of a dude called tall Paul. Who i don't think scored a goal since.
Cracking night that was.
I get that. I've found the last decade or so of transfers to be so disappointing, with the odd exception. It's like I'm conditioned to expect more duds, so when we don't sign them, I'm not bothered and see it as money saved. Maybe it's a middle-age thing.

Not since 2016 have we really been able to approach a window with intent and resources, and we know how that went.

My attitude towards it all now has never recovered from "Witsel is ours". It's been mostly all downhill from there.

The summer offers some hope of a different direction, but they have a lot of work to do before I'll ever be half enthusiastic about transfers again. It has just turned into another opportunity to fail. Maybe Moyes can do something about that given time.

He’s on record as saying Maldini was overrated and that Gary Stevens (who we all love) was a better fullback… I think that statement alone means anything he says about fullbacks/football is best ignored.
What I wouldn’t give for a Maldini or a Stevens now!

Think you’ve got me confused with someone else mate o have never said Maldini was over rated and that Gary Steven was a better full back

I was to young to appreciate those players properly

So I genuinely think you’ve got me confused with another poster

I'm on my own I think here, but despite Brobbey's very unimpressive goal scoring record this season, his all round game does look like it would suit us. Holds the ball well, good with his back to goal and brings other players into the game.

For the right price, I'd be interested.

Longstaff if James Garner with a geordie accent.

Consistently bang average, ok at everything good at nothing.

We tend to turn our nose up at everyone.
He started 30 games for Newcastle last season and scored 6 goals. Thats more than our Centre forwards.
He's not shopping at beverly hills but the squads paper thin and 10m doesnt get you a Championship player these days.
