Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Very.

It’s just hard to sign the right one.

The same people complaining we aren’t signing anyone will be the same people complaining about us not seeing Broja’s injury coming.

There’s so much to weigh up, which never comes into discussion because we should “just sign a striker.”
The thing I find interesting is how quiet things are on the rumour front. Two years ago when we were in the “we need a striker, we’ll get one” window there were links popping up all over Europe in the final days as we were clearly belling round every possible option.

I’m not buying “doing our business quietly” because these leaks usually come from selling clubs or players agents, and there’s nothing we could do about that.

So either a) we’re doing nothing or b) we’re quietly working on a small number of realistic targets rather than the panic scramble we’ve seen before, because a scattergun approach would be making its way to the media.

Hopefully it’s b and hopefully b yields results. We’ll see.

Yeah for b to be correct though more than likely we'd be needing to speak to a minimum number of agents so decent chance if it's the case we could end up getting several from the same agency, would reduce the chance of leaks that way substantially

Remember the first Dyche window when they had to pretend they were on the phone trying all day to make deals but probably just ordered in pizza and a pack of stella to the office.

Think you’ve got me confused with someone else mate o have never said Maldini was over rated and that Gary Steven was a better full back

I was to young to appreciate those players properly

So I genuinely think you’ve got me confused with another poster
No, it’s not you I was referencing It was Charlie sweet. He said one of the most decorated full backs in football history was overrated, it was a magnificent display of stupidity 😂😂

Personally I took the reported Dyche conversation/comments at the time of his sacking to be an indication that there was no early business being done. The supposed comments and the context that they were apparently said in - a conversation about signings in this window - would make more sense if what he was being told was that nobody was going to be coming in until the end of the window. I can imagine there being all sorts of mad links in the last 24 hours as we go through that very Everton process of ringing everyone in the contact book asking if they've got anyone going spare.
