Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Well he was linked with West Ham last Summer for just under £20m so add another season to that. Still got 3 years on his deal. @Zatara

I cant help but think (as I did with Wharton though i saw more of him) that Rigg would be the one I'd be all out for.

Same as Gray really...players with potential to take us up a notch down the line as Branthwaite & Stones were.

But he'd cost like twice as much?

I imagine (total guesswork) that Sunderland would accept a similar deal to Gray...

£20mil down & £20mil in add ons.

Plus -- we loan him back for the remainder of the season.

I know it may sound bizarre to some...but if we had signed:

Wharton -- We'd be looking at him, Pickford and Branthwaite as potentially our (i know you dislike this!!) English core.

Gray -- He'd have been our starting RB.

* with a non-Dyche caveat.

Zat I implore you to take a look at the league table and the team we have to fight relegation and consider whether we can really afford to spend 20m up front on a player we will then loan out for the rest of the season.

I don't think 20M would swing it anymore. I'd be certain that every PL team has scouted him multiple times already, and a bunch of foreign CL teams also. Unless he suffers an injury, there's nobody getting him on the cheap, and I'd call 20M cheap given what he's achieved at his age.

Rigg would cost the same as Gray, and as we cant even afford to sack our manager, that's even more unlikely than Hackney.

Plus Rigg is probably the most sought after 17 year old in the UK

Think there is a case for short and long-term investment in players to be honest

Given where we are at present, we need players ready to play from day one they sign, plus in the summer you need to sign for your future

Broja for example, hopefully he will be able to make a difference in December/January onwards, he was signed in August deadline, Jake O Brien was bought to cover Branthwaite leaving, he didn't, but will in the summer signed in August hasn't played any minutes?

Think he will sign little Willy from Leeds myself as he is ready to go, others no idea just like everyone else?

Everything is just fantasy until the takeover goes through really.

Could we sign Rigg after that, well I think the money would be there and Sunderland have a good relationship with us traditionally.

Would we be able to talk the player into the move, depends on the manager, the likes of Potter probably could sell the move to the lad as he's got a good rep for developing and trusting in young players - would Sunderland sell to us over a 'bigger' team, immguessingbhere that a sizeable sell on from us could swing it over a slightly higher offer from a CL team - he goes the likes of a City or Arsenal the chances are Sunderland never get any extra as if he really kicks on they'll jeep him sbd if he busts out they'll likely sell him on at a loss. If he developed here then history shows we'd end up selling him on for a big profit which would be better for Sunderland overall

If I was them though I wouldn't sell and try to at least keep him this season and their first in the prem. He produces them his value goes through the roof.

So twice as much.

As Wharton ? I think Wharton was incredibly cheap and it looks even better after the Gray deal.

Once the takeover goes through...
