Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Have wanted this for a very long time and now with the lack of real quality, i dont really care about most of them leaving. With this and a new boss ect can change the mentality here. Think this window will give us a small picture of the plans they have at the club
3 year contract extension for Dyche along with Ashley Barnes signing for striker options and Cornet signed to provide pace

Few moving parts to keep an eye on mate, PSR limits and Branthwaite.

I dont think we have the PSR scope to spend big unless we sell Branthwaite.

Yeah have read the same, be gutter when the lad does go but if we have to so we can rebuild the squad we have to do it. Really need a mix of everything next season free transfers make sure we do smart loans. And of course make sure we bring in the right quality across the pitch. I am going to try be postive is why i think they could do some in jan. to create some hope in the fanbase

Sure we have the kegger who can also play as a striker 😜

Think its a 3-5 years rebuild mate.

We have gone what 3-5 years now with a negative net spend and looseing all our bets players, its going to take a while to reverse that in my opinion.

We can incrementally improve in the meantime, if we got a couple of good attacking full backs say in January i think it transforms the side.

As Wharton ? I think Wharton was incredibly cheap and it looks even better after the Gray deal.

TFG have the money.

Once the takeover goes through...
I still wouldn't pay £40m for a 17 year old, no matter how good they are. Which is still up for debate.
(I think he looks good FWIW), but you never know with these lads in the Championship
Hackney would be a safer, cheaper bet

If we get a new manager as well, dyche won’t play attacking full backs. Apparently Patterson looked quite good the other night, I know it was under 21
Villa turned things around quickly after a big sale, Witt the right people it’s possible to
Do it quicker

So assuming the takeover is completed and the Potter rumour is accurate, how will that affect Kev's January plans do ya think?

I never really followed his Brighton too closely, but it says here that his style morphed between 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 (as we have now under Dyche) and 4-2-4 against low blocks: https://learning.coachesvoice.com/cv/graham-potter-chelsea-brighton-tactics/

I guess we still remain light at FB, RW etc. no matter who comes in.

Didn’t he play a back 3 at times?? Apparently that’s what Thelwell would like to see from the manager

In a lot of ways the recruitment is beyond Thelwell his role i think more the overall facilitator, there is a whole Dept that will have a list of potential targets for each position. Then you are into resources and availability.

What has let us down over numerous windows, has been cash flow - we've identified some great players and just haven't been able to afford the deals.

In reality the more we do January the more urgency we will have to raise before July. Though we need players and badly.

Thelwell i don't think will be looked at this close to a window.

It happens every year, we think we will get a big reset because players will leave.
21/22 - Bernard, Walcott, Bolasie, King, Besic
22/23 - Allan, Kenny, Tosun, Rondon, Delph, sigurdsson
23/24 - Mina, Davies, Gbamin, Townsend
24/25 - Alli, Gomes

I'd imagine of those transfers expiring we will lose
DCL, Gueye, Coleman

Young, Keane, Virginia & Doucoure will all sign extensions
