Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Crikey, 900 pages of crumbs even mice would turn their noses at. Not sure what to make of the lack of links. On the one hand it suggests the club have plugged the leaky bucket, but on the other, surely we’d still get the occasional drip-fed agent chatter so maybe we’ve been nowhere near as active as we might hope. I do get the feeling we’re working on a very small list of targets and don’t cast our net particularly wide but we’ll have to see what the last few days bring.

I have been generally quite positive about the job Thelwell has done by and large. Yes, he’s bought some stinkers but I could understand the logic of most of the players he’s bought and think he’s acquitted himself well in very difficult conditions. That being said, if we end up with no one then he needs punting the second the windows shuts as negligence doesn’t even remotely describe what leaving this squad in its current guise would be.

I'll sum our situation up simply, IF we go with what we have and anything happens to Ndiaye we are screwed massively he's the only source of goals and player who can get us on the front foot.
We are one injury from having to play a 18yo lad in CM.
We are an injury away from having no striker and have nobody to shift there without ending up with no one playing their position.

Any of those or several happens and we could easily go into a spiral down.

And things like to see toffee TV almost crowing about if we beat Leicester we are safe pretty much, will be the first screaming about how we got let down in the window should the worse happen.

Jesus wept.
100% fed up of this did this when we got no stirker after promised by moshiri, can accept csnt fix everything this window. But whatever the result on saturday is should not change the fact we need players. Toffee tv is awful like alot of the so called fan youtubes, i prefer the ones on twitter because just tell you what the club os doing

You would think people would have learnt by now.

Expect nothing and judge when the window SLAMS closed.

Dear God, I thought people had an issue with Beto being not good enough???

He's 27 and struggling to score in the Championship! Has looked totally anonymous. Like DCL, he has essentially had 2 decent seasons for goals in his career. Averages around 5-7 goals per season in the lower divisions.
We've reached the straw clutching phase I see.

Tbf he was prolific in his spell at Bognor Regis Town, so maybe he might find that spark again in the PL!
Thanks for your opinion

But we have had games this month and this weekend were a signing or two could be the difference.

It may have got us a point or 3 against Villa, more comfortable against Brighton

Right now i expect us to just get over the line against Leicester due to our injuries, if we had a striker and a winger already signed we would have a far greater chance of getting the 3 points.

Its not like we didnt need the players since the season started and before that.

Business will be done late.
As it always is.
Because every club needs to be as sure as they can be about their decisions - with players coming in or leaving. Moving parts.
Imagine there are options on the table and discussions have been held, but movement happens late.

Don't think we will or even should sign someone given the state of these loans deals that Thelwell and Purdy have put together. They both need binning off, again in Purdy's case.

L’Equipe reporting that we may not even be sending Mangala back, absolutely shocking if true and a massive oversight by our DOF

7 points clear.

If we lost the last 2, you still don't sign players who don't improve us long term.

Again, why is the default that we'd sign terrible players?

The crux of it is this team needs players now, as much as it ever has.

You say the last 2 games has undoubtedly changed our situation - a squad already on it's arse, has lost two first team players in Calvert-Lewin and Mangala in that time

Sure, we could be 10 points clear tomorrow, or 4 points with 40% of the season to go.

A team that's been in a relegation scrap for 3 successive years is in one until it's not.
Completely agree, there is no excuse for not adding to the squad.

I dont know whats going behind closed doors bus the fans need to be told why we are where we are right now with a few days away from adding zero.
