Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

PSR this, PSR that… it’s simply an excuse at this stage. Really thought things would change with TFG but seeing no signs of improvement so far.
TFG have been in the door 6 weeks. It's not going to be a magic fix. New owners doesn't magically mean tens of millions or hundreds of millions pouring in to the club, it's gonna take a long time and wont even really start until BMD is up and running.

So our striker targets, if the rags are to be believed, seem to boil down to:

Castro - likely the best of the lot, also likely to not be coming here
Igamane - might have been interesting if not overpriced and needed to produce immediately
Ferguson - could have injury/substance issues
Awoniyi - injury issues and a bit poo

Maybe (hopefully) I'm missing someone

Castro aside, I'm not sure I would want to spend money on any of them. Beto with N'Daiye as cover is likely better than spending money poorly. If Igamane was 10 million, then he would have been worth a punt maybe, but not at 20 million.

We better hope they have a trick up their sleeve....
Not imo wouldnt be confident if they was the options, same old crap talk of working hard not accepting this. Need players in if not is another failed window = thelwell can do one end of season for me
The express are more saying that Chukwueze is being offered around, to us, Spurs and Newcastle rather than we are after him. We were linked before so I can understand why we would be linked with him. He is predominantly a Right Winger, which we need, so if a deal could be done, I would be happy with him, I know it hasn't worked so far in Milan, but he was good for Villarreal.

Loan would be better

We’ve served our punishment as the guineas pigs and I’m convinced it’ll never happen again to anyone else tbh.
Yeah, the problem is it's easy for people on a forum to confidently say "PSR is dead," but the same people would be blowing their lids if next season we were slammed with another points deduction because we overspent.

While the rules are there, the risk is there - and it'd be crazy for the club to ignore it.

Sorry, should've said domestic clubs. Just said premier league as he was talking about richarlison.
No need to apologise…..

I understand and accept that a club in our position is going to be doing deals late, if at all due to having to pinch pennies and wait for other dominoes to fall, etc. What I don't quite get is comments like "it may not be the players we'd like to have brought in."

The club is under ownership that will have very recently undertaken extensive due diligence on its finances. The PL have signed off on the fact we haven't breached PSR, so there should be no further question marks over the numbers reported internally. How, then, have we not cut our cloth accordingly from day 1 of the manager and DoF working together? How have we been able to waste time on targets that, if they are out of our price range now, will have been out of it weeks ago also?

Or did I just misunderstand the comment?
Something changed recently
