Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Sad times but we are not an attractive proposition at present much as like we don't want to hear it. We are desperate for new additions, especially since the injuries, but so are other more attractive suitors. But I would rather wait to get the right personnel in than just make do's, we've been down that road before, it leaves you with poor unwanted player's on high salaries that you can't get rid of. Still hope to get a decent striker in at least then wait for the Summer with more PSR elbow room and some of their drudge contracts run out, playing in the new ground, a much more attractive proposition.
8 players are out of contract in the summer .....

Simplistic way at looking at this we are the lowest net spenders in the Prem League over the last 5 years.

We have a revenue only beaten max by 10 clubs max.

We have shifted a lot of players on big contracts out of the club over the last 2/3 years such as Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.

How is PSR so much of an issue for us compared to everyone else.....
Previously: loan interest and stadium investment

Those factors still sit on our 2024/2025 books, but I think will be reduced or mitigated for 2025/2026 with what TFG has done during the buy out.

But we are still stuck in this year’s budget constraints until June.

I understand and accept that a club in our position is going to be doing deals late, if at all due to having to pinch pennies and wait for other dominoes to fall, etc. What I don't quite get is comments like "it may not be the players we'd like to have brought in."

The club is under ownership that will have very recently undertaken extensive due diligence on its finances. The PL have signed off on the fact we haven't breached PSR, so there should be no further question marks over the numbers reported internally. How, then, have we not cut our cloth accordingly from day 1 of the manager and DoF working together? How have we been able to waste time on targets that, if they are out of our price range now, will have been out of it weeks ago also?

Or did I just misunderstand the comment?
We have to give another set of accounts to the premier league at the end of the season. That's why. It's not as simple as we avoided it now so we're fine.

It is ridiculous, but that's the rules they impose on everyone.

PSR is a very convenient excuse now for not spending any money

if fans kick of due to lack of spending just push the PSR agenda and they can't say anything

this is the best thing that ever happened to frugal football owners who don't want to splash the cash they have a ready made excuse available to them which could be a massive lie
100%...surely you'll think that with a new stadium ready to go you could somehow create more room from a psr perspective enough to at least have decent money to spend. TFG is running this as a business....this is not chelsea. They have to be careful because no reinforcements in January and a loss tomorrow against leceister and we could be in big trouble with relegation. I hope that they understand the urgency of the situation.

Absolutely chronic CEO’s for donkeys years now.
Davek will point out the deficiencies of the club's 'board of directors' over the past decade or two.

The fact that there are links with Brighton's Paul Barber should be more attractive to all of us as fans than the fact we might be able to get a different player on loan from Chelsea. He'll revolutionise the club's mindset and commercial activity.

Surprising it's taken 31 days of the window, but our annual link to Samuel Chukwueze has arrived.

The express are more saying that Chukwueze is being offered around, to us, Spurs and Newcastle rather than we are after him. We were linked before so I can understand why we would be linked with him. He is predominantly a Right Winger, which we need, so if a deal could be done, I would be happy with him, I know it hasn't worked so far in Milan, but he was good for Villarreal.

Well if the objective of this presser was to manage expectations they've certainly achieved it.
Managing expectations absolutely should be a part of the job. If anyone think a club that has had very little money to spend over the last few years with multiple PSR issues are suddenly going to be throwing around tens of millions in the winter window, they are not being realistic.
