Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Simplistic way at looking at this we are the lowest net spenders in the Prem League over the last 5 years.

We have a revenue only beaten max by 10 clubs max.

We have shifted a lot of players on big contracts out of the club over the last 2/3 years such as Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.

How is PSR so much of an issue for us compared to everyone else.....
Because we make next to nothing commercially or in matchday revenue. We've been reliant on shonky loans and player trading to keep the lights on for the past three seasons. It's changing, but it hasn't changed yet.

Selling players is only part of it.

I think the difference is that they haven't really sold many players in the current PSR cycle.

We have made money on transfers never mind overspending.

I don't really understand how Moyes has gone from very confident last week, to much less confident in 7 days. Especially with the squad even more stretched with 2 long term injuries.

I don't get it to be honest
He did just say in the press conference that he's only just starting to understand the scope of it

No obviously not, but they were in reference to Moyes' comments that we may bring players in but they might not be the ones we want?
The same comment threw me, but I suppose it could mean a number of things. I worry that it means we have been targeting players we were never in with a shout of signing, because our situation hasn't changed in the last 4 weeks, but it may easily be that the "we" he was referring to was the fanbase and/or local media, and the comment was simply that we're working on deals but not those being reported.

In any event the blessed nonsense will be over in a couple of days.

We might pull a rabbit or two out of the hat, and they might well be crap. We might sign unknowns or players in poor form and they might turn out boss. We might sign nobody and I'll down a bottle of Toilet Duck and not have to worry anymore.

“We hope to bring in some players, but maybe it’s not the ones – if we had the money – we’d be trying to do.”

David Moyes.

--What an incentive to players. Knowing youre not really wanted.

PSR is a very convenient excuse now for not spending any money

if fans kick of due to lack of spending just push the PSR agenda and they can't say anything

this is the best thing that ever happened to frugal football owners who don't want to splash the cash they have a ready made excuse available to them which could be a massive lie
Yeah, the only thing is, we publish our accounts, so if they were lying, they would be found out as soon as the accounts are made public.

Not very hopeful as news reports are very pessimistic now today - before that we were in for loads of options to sign - then again remember Fellanis signing ...... happened after the closing date time as we put the papers in at the last minute - one can hope we can get 1 0r 2 players in ?

Sad times but we are not an attractive proposition at present much as like we don't want to hear it. We are desperate for new additions, especially since the injuries, but so are other more attractive suitors. But I would rather wait to get the right personnel in than just make do's, we've been down that road before, it leaves you with poor unwanted player's on high salaries that you can't get rid of. Still hope to get a decent striker in at least then wait for the Summer with more PSR elbow room and some of their drudge contracts run out, playing in the new ground, a much more attractive proposition.

It's figuratively the Sword of Damocles hanging over the neck of the club.

It's not a myth or an excuse. Do you not recall the point deductions last season? We have to play ball until June or else we put our Premier League status at further risk.
