Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Perhaps the fact that Broja has gone from being 'ready for action' to 'out for 3 months', our "star striker" Billy SixGoals also now being out for weeks/months, and 50% of our really good 2-man midfield partnership being out for the rest of the season has changed the thinking from "a winger is not a priority with our limited resources".

No one knows for sure how 'close' we were to Nuamah, his club might have pulled the plug on a transfer for whatever reason, Moyes may not simply want him or think he is a necessity signing when he clearly has more issues than address than when he first arrived.
He initially stated he wanted players in , when pressed 3 .
Now it's a loan or 2 if we're lucky.

So it's OK Harrison etc see us out til the end of the season ?

I'm not saying Thelwell is right BTW, but he does know the parameters the club can work with and structured deals accordingly. Who says there wasn't another Ndiaye, O'brien or Tim lined up.
We all know reinforcements are badly needed.

To not bring any attacking players in is gross negligence

Gonna break this down as simply as I can mate.

Thelwells recruitment on strikers has been nothing short of diabolical
Beto (24m), Maupay (16m) Chermiti (12m) and Broja a domestic loan spot.

Out of attacking players in general Ndiaye (16m)(great signing) Lindstrom (3m loan) only just adjusting , Harrison (utter yard dog).

None recruited suited the actual system for the manager in charge he was recruiting for btw.

I can see why Moyes may look at any list and be aghast at it.

Thelwell has signed 7 attacking players for us - one has succeeded and one shows signs he could do. One has already been moved on and was hugely disruptive, one was broken when he arrived, one was completely inexperienced and still hasn't featured, one we are looking to move on but have to keep because the recruitment has left us with zero option but too, and the other has already failed here and we brought him back again - using another of a valuable domestic loan spots.

You've explained that very well mate.

We'll go with what we've got then.

Cheers for that.

He obviously wants players, but I doubt too many realists would have been expecting a club with limited resources to make 3 signings. As he aluded to in the presser, if you dont have a lot of money, ideally you dont want to spend it on players you dont really want and may not be what you really need. We may make a loan or two, and it may well be enough to get us through til May.

Hadn’t seen this. Agree with the sentiment; managers almost never start a conversation about a player unless 99% done. The questions are a waste of time. The window breeds this desperation for info, then they make stuff up anyway.

But this sort of belligerence and very specific criticism of a particular reporter is REALLY embarrassing. Shocking conduct. What an unpleasant demeanor he has when miffed. Would last approximately 4 minutes at Finch Farm before hiding in the bogs.

I think he's actually being pretty fair. Not commenting on any players that he's not the boss of.
We know the press are there to get stories, and possibly to click bait. He's not giving them any.
Fair play.
