Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

story here about Habib Diarra at strasbourg, looks like a Attacking Central Midfielder, only 21, believed to be available for around £16m, the story mentions that if we sign him it will pave the way for Doucoure to go to Roma. That is an interesting twist, because accounting wise, if we sold Doucoure for a similar fee of around £16m (he has 6 months left on his contract), we could spend a fair bit in this window as the cost for players bought is always spread over the contract, but you can account for any money received for player sales in full straight away.

Bolasie was pre Mosh I think??

Siggy I wouldn't regard as a total flop, chipped in with a few goals and did score at Anfield. But as record signings go he was by no means a success.

But here's to the future

No maye , bolasie was a koeman / Walsh signing … I’m convinced the only reason we bought him was because he’s mates with lukaku and we were trying to get him to stay and sign a contract … the contract that was 90% form according to bill and then was never signed

Doing nothing and assuming other teams keep losing every week is exactly how we will get relegated this season. Complacency is the last thing that should be in our minds given how we are playing.

Got to say I'm pretty concerned with all this talk about the new ownership waiting till the summer to make any changes. We are in not in a position to do that. We need to see them take action now and stop waiting.

I can't say I'm impressed so far with them and expected then to want to hit the ground running. It's not impatience either, they should be fully aware of the issues since they are so obvious
What are they supposed to be doing though exactly?

Maybe they are indeed fully aware of the situation and issues at present and as such have a bit more info than we do about just how close to PSR we will come in at for this season?

Given firing Dyche right now will cost us the remainder of his contract and by reports and extra full year payment. Dyche is reportedly on 5m per year, so paying him off right now will cost around 7.5m all up front all counting on this tears figures.

That's the same amount on PSR as paying out 38m in January for new players on 5 year contracts.

Given we did not seem to have a huge amount of room in the summer on PSR then anyone expecting them to walk in day one fire the manager hire another (if there in work the compensation would also all come out of this years btw) and spend on players is completely insane.

If we fire Dyche hire say someone we'd have to pay 3-4m to get out there contract you are looking at a hit in PSR the equivalent of spending around 60m on new players.

Maybe a reason they are hoping to get through till the summer as it could be a case of replacing the manager will mean either of the following, having to hire an out of work manager due to saving money, zero ability to bring any players in during January for any new manager, or worst case having to actually sell players during January to facilitate a managerial change.

Oh the figures I'm giving are conservative as well as we'd have to pay off all his staff and any compensation packages for any new managers staff.

Just because we have a new owner who has money and has restricted or payed off almost all debts dies not alter the PSR situation by anything more than the savings in the loan repayments - some of which we were trying to write off anyway as investment in infrastructure (stadium loans)

What's this about paying an extra year as compensation??

We are going to end up having to change the manager. Delaying it just makes things more difficult for a replacement. Avoiding relegation is the most important thing and worth a lot more than 7m.

I expected to see some action from the new ownership. I expected a new manager and I expected a new signing. I think they are making a mistake by trying to get to the summer and I dont think it will work. I'm a bit frustrated so far.

Financial year for football clubs runs until June 30th. We should be able to do a couple of deals like we did with Villa in selling Dobbin to create a bit of leeway.

Maybe this is correct.

Maybe they are willing to play Russian Roulette (no signings and Dyche till the end of the season) in the hope of finishing 17th and then starting with a clean slate.

Will you be happy if they replace the manager, make one or two new signings and then next year we get his with a breech of PSR charge and deducted points?

As that's exactly what the reality could very well be this season.

Can't see this happening regarding Doucoure. It would send Roma fans foaming at the mouth if they thought they were being used to help our transfer kitty / PSR. Friedkins wouldn't risk that with the fans calming down a bit since the De Rossi saga

It may or may not be mate, but people crying about them already are insane.

It's like we learnt zero from Moshiris tine here and just want a version two...

If they aren't replacing Dyche then there will be a damned good reason for them doing so, if they aren't buying anyone ditto.

Do t even think it's russian roulette, think it's more being acutely aware of what a mess the club was and not wanting to instantly repeat the same mistakes.

I think they will replace Dyche, when they have the right manager signed up ready to go and if they can financially manage it within the regulations
