Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Just watch how if there's a new scapegoat to be had - it will still be us.

Forest are a feelgood story this season so they can't be punished, Leicester escaped it twice already, so who's left from the obvious culprits?

Maybe but I think the fact we're not now linked to any Russian oligarchs, new flagship stadium, increased revenue more importantly American owners... we'll sail by any regulations they want to throw at us IMO

Personally think Masters should resign if the rumours of City getting off Scott free are true. Additionally, I think all the US owners will get together and make a play to take over

If we can somehow con Newcastle into giving us 15m for DCL, and we can pick up one of thier fringe players like Longstaff or Targett for a similar fee, thus allowing us more PSR freedom in the window, I feel it’s something we now must do.

The team has so many needs, they cannot all be completed in the summer..actions are needed urgently.

List of Thelwell Loans:

Lindstrum
Broja
Mangala
Harrison x 2
Broja
Viangre
Coady

Not sure if it was him
Van de Beek
El Ghazi

Even without those last 2, that's a pretty disastrous list.
Can we keep big nose Kev away from our loan deals, or better yet, just bin them off, i don't think they work for us like they used to with our nostalgic Lukaku, Pienaar, Deulofeu, Arteta heads on.
But how many of those were players he wanted Vs players that are available. He was task was to ensure we had a complement squad with no money to do much, he didn't really have a choice of players, it was more accepting what's there. His hands are pretty tied.

Anyone can shop with unlimited resource though. His job was to build on a budget, which he doesn't appear to have done well.

Chilwell is on over 200 grand a week for the next 2 and a half years. It's an absolute non starter for basically every single club in the world. Hence why he's still at Chelsea.
Ball’s probably in the player’s court with that one. Pretty clear he can either have 200k a week or he can play football because the only team that will pay him won’t play him.

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree with you 100%, but I think they can still go out of their way to eff us over like

…loan deals the obvious way out in this case. I heard the Chelsea manager say he doesn’t like his full-backs crossing the half-way line which doesn’t suit Chilwell.

I find it hard to think any player would drop his salary significantly to get more game time, especially if he is on £200k. Sounds like a stalemate that can only be resolved by a loan deal with Chelsea subsidising the salary to make up any shortfall.

If Thelwell hadn't done what he's done over the past two years, then we'd either be in the Championship due to further PSR penalties, or in administration (or more likely both).

The squad is terrible because of the constraints imposed on the club due to the pitiful mismanagement from Moshiri/Kenwright. I think he's done a sterling job given what he's had to work with - whether he's right for the coming rebuild I don't know, but we should be thankful for what he has achieved.

And the money on Maupay, Beto, Chermiti and O’Brien?

Even on ‘buy now pay later’ deals these have been awful let’s be honest. I don’t think they’ve contributed a point.
