Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

It's building up to being an epic Monday night. The question is will it be Joy or Fume. It's not be boring for a few good years, largely miserable but not boring.
If we sign 3 players they will be not good enough
If we sign nobody then......

So to answer your question, this is GOT = FUMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Every player should be buzzing to join us, just look at our recent history…..don’t they know who we are!! Muppets.

Whilst I’d take the win 10 times out of 10 in the hypothetical scenario of ‘beat Leicester even if it means not signing anyone’, the suggestion that the weekend’s result being a key factor in how big a risk they take in the final couple of days does feel like it has a speck of logic behind it. Failing to bring in a single player is still an abject failure regardless though, and I still attribute a LOT of the blame for these difficulties on the atrocious loan situation. I’d be thinking of alternatives to Thelwell after this season due to his Broja obsession alone.

Danjuma - loan, didn't get picked, playing CL football currently
Harrison - loan, decent first season, manager wanted him back
Beto - £0 outlay, favourable payment terms, saleable asset
Maupay - we'll get our money back, rumoured not to have been Thelwell's signing, who knows.
Chermiti - was always a future project, can't write him off without seeing him play, saleable asset
Coady - loan
Vinagre - loan
To name a few...

Contract extensions to

Coleman - no issue with this
Doucoure over £100k p/w - not good

Couldn`t shift these players which were leaching vast amounts of money from the club

Gomes £125k p/w - no one was buying him
Alli £100k p/w - we didn't pay him £100k p/w, no-one was buying him
Holgate - no one was buying him

Supporting Dyche to the bitter end!
As I said, this has been covered off at length

You'd have included O'Brien two weeks ago as well, to which I'd have given the same response as Chermiti.

It's hard to buy good players when you have no money, no owners and the looming threat of both point deductions and administration looming over you.

You seem to be forgetting that Thelwell has had his hands tied behind his back his whole tenure.
He's shopping for bargains and filling holes with whatever he can find and firefighting

As I've said a couple of times already, the only person at the club with a longer documented obsession with Broja than Thelwell is Moyes. There's a better than decent chance that Broja ends up back here in the summer and, FWIW, Broja is a good player. The loan made good financial sense, we've just been very unlucky that the lad got a completely unrelated serious injury after getting himself fit.

I think Adebayo from Luton could be a real Moyes player. Just looked and mixed information about his contract but it looks like he has a year left based on a few sites I found. Saw wages estimated to be £12k a week which is insanely low even if we tripled them for him to come and £10m market value is good considering he has the PL experience Moyes is after

Him and another striker would be good I think and he has the profile to replace DCL for sure.
Dear God, I thought people had an issue with Beto being not good enough???

He's 27 and struggling to score in the Championship! Has looked totally anonymous. Like DCL, he has essentially had 2 decent seasons for goals in his career. Averages around 5-7 goals per season in the lower divisions.
We've reached the straw clutching phase I see.

Tbf he was prolific in his spell at Bognor Regis Town, so maybe he might find that spark again in the PL!

10mil would be very good

People really do take “anything’s better than what we’ve got” way, way too far.

I don't foresee any action until late monday. Due to years of mismanagement, the club can't/won't enter a bidding war with other clubs. We'll just have to wait until West Ham, Brighton, Ipswich, Bournemouth and so on are finished shopping and hope that we can find some hidden gems that can strenghten the team. Being an optimistic person, I can see us bringing in 2 new players, and provided we can cansel any of the loanes, 1 new player on loan.

I doubt it, we've been badly stung this time despite knowing full well there was a good chance he'd get injured again.

There's no way we go back to Chelsea and pick up his salary again next season, and definitely no way we consider throwing money at them for a permanent deal.

I think he's (unfortunately) done huge damage to his career with this latest injury.

May we learn our lesson not to bring in crocks that we may end up relying on.

Personally don't want us bringing in players that can't hit a barn door for teams about to be relegated to League One. That doesn't scream "will improve us" to me.
