Everton January transfer window 2021

My only concern with that is you need a bit of both. Allan and Dacoure are excellent foils for James because of the ground they cover & the intensity they cover the ground.

It's a luxury to have James & a luxury we need, but not sure you have two or three of a similar ilk in the league

Of course teams need balance. And if you had a manager who wanted to set a side up to play a high press, high octane style you are probably struggling with too many more than James. However Ancelotti is a flexible manager, and we appear to be wanting to sit deeper.

I mean there is almost a seperate argument between Khedira to Isco. Khedira could slot in fine. There is enough "legs" in front of him in Allan, Doucoure & Davies (and Gbamin if he's fit). The 6 position actually doesn't need an awful lot of legs.

Isco is more complicated. Playing with him in a 10 and James on the right is more difficult. So I suppose you have to trust the manager if they were to come in, which I do.

I remember Italian and Spanish teams dominating game, because they had smaller, slower technical players who could dominate the ball. I'm not saying if you make a scratch team you set it up that way, but sometiems you have to take 2 steps forward and one step back. Isco is miles better than say Iwobi, but Iwobi gives us legs.

The alternative may be Alli. He would give us the legs and power we need. But (and I'm an Alli fan) he's not as good a footballer as Isco. He could potentially rediscover that form and become so, but at present Isco is the better player.

Looking at the last 3 results, I think right back isn't a huge transfer issue.

We have Coleman, Holgate, Godfrey and Kenny in that position.

If the right deal comes around for the right player, yes go for it but give me that Defensive Midfielder and Right Winger this January.

It’s not always about how many numbers we have available, it’s about the quality of those players.

Godfrey and Holgate can certainly both play their when needed but I think we’ll still see them preferred as CB’s, Holgate could end up being used In several different positions every season due to his versatility but I don’t think we’ll ever see him play exclusively as a RB and finish a season with 30+ apps from RB.

Coleman has been a fantastic servant of this club, I started supporting the club in 2009 and he’s been one of the clubs most consistent performers across that period of time, he’d be the only player who’s been apart of our first team squad since I first started supporting the club. However, he won’t be able to continue playing on forever especially as our first choice RB.

As for Kenny, I think he comes across as a really good fella, a local lad who always gives it his all. I think he’s good in enough to play his part in a Premier League squad but I believe he’s still to far away from the level of player needed to take this club to the next level, I don’t see him being at the level to be a starting RB in a top six club.

big disagree about Alli: he lacks pace and has seen his best days. If Mourinho wants him out there must be
good reasons.

This team does not want slowish, older players like Khedira but dynamic, fast, skillful players with lots
of potential.
