Everton January transfer window 2021

This summer past we only bought Godfrey. The majority of our money went to older players. And that's fine from time to time but we will have issues at some point if we always do that is all I'm saying.

I actually think the squad is well balanced at the moment but signing Khedira and Zaha would undue that, imo.

I don't see any reason why we would do that though.

Zaha has never been properly linked under Ancelotti, Khedira I could kind of see as a short term option as a replacement for Delph lets say (similar injury records, a million times better player).

Doucoure isn't really old, Allan and James known quantities to the manager and you don't pass up the chance to sign the likes of James (who is only 29 himself.)

As you say the balance is fine for now and it will no doubt continue to be so.

I can plainly say that I do not want Wilfried Zaha.

For one he's basically playing as a striker right now. That doesn't suit our team in any way.

Right back is no longer a pressing need, holgate has been stellar in place of Seamus. We need a winger with pace who can also play through the middle in case Dom misses game time.

Gravy Sam can take Cenk with him to WBA and pay 15m for him, the very least he can do. Kenny can maybe be sacrificed and Bernard i think is a cert to go in January. Our problem is teams don't usually sell talent in January unless they are skint or the player is sulking.
Are we out to appease some angry god or something?

For me, as a someone from a third world country, SA. but Africa as a whole only cares about the traditional top 4.

Man utd and redsh** are followed by the majority here. Generally because local leagues are useless useless.

As a brand. Man u dominates Africa and asia.
I do quite a bit of work in Ghana and can't believe how many Arsenal shirts there are, especially since before Partey I can't think of another Ghanaian to have played for Arsenal.

We also signed Brainthwaite in January, to go alongside Godfrey and Neils. Thats a 17, 19 and 22 year old.

The team we stuck out on Saturday had an average age of 25.

You can see Brands influence is still here, but it is nuanced. It's not just about stockpiling teenagers. When you look where we are in the league, it's hard to argue it hasn't been a success.

As an aside, I could see 1 or 2 younger players, particularly like Nkounkou potentially arriving over the next 2 windows as well. When you see the covid situation in France, which looks particularly bad (as their TV deal hasn't just declined by collapsed) there will likely be all sorts of opportunities. Lucky old Brands made the strategic decision to bin off scouts from the likes of Scanadanavia, Portugal etc and focus more resources in France eh?

Very good planning I think. Portugal is now going to be Wolves/Spain. Brands has the dutch contacts and Steinsson (sp) the scandinavians.

I hope we bring in 2 players in Jan. One u21 and one starter out of the blue.

Id be very happy though if we managed to offload 5 or 6 players. That should be priority.

I wouldnt bother.

Hes just a mini Zat and would fill the squad with 17 year olds who will never make it in football and then accuse us of ruining their talent.

The game is the game.

That's 2 years down the line. The hope would be Davies is 24 and coming into his prime and improving. That Gbamin will have nailed a place down at 26. Maybe Onyango surprises us and is around the team at 19.

As for Khedira, I think the bigger worry is people under estimate the ability of players who get to play for elite teams like Real Madrid for years. We have seen it with James. When hes 35, he will still be easily good enough to get into the team.

It's a short term v long term argument. There needs to be a balance. But we also need to improve in the short term, which we are doing. The owner wants quick success.

If you really look ahead 2 years then possibly Doucoure/Onyango + Allan/Davies + Gbamin/?

The big move should be Camavinga to compete with Gbamin for the defensive midfield position....id go for him in Jan...need to move fast.

Otherwise Zakaria/Guimaraes in the summer.

He's like a Zat - Davek hybrid, Big Izatek.

Who?

Everyone should know by now that Ancelotti has no problem to play young players but he would prefer experience ones at this time.

And he will rotation for fun when we get european football next year so...

Khedira and Isco :p

Who?
I don't even have to hit unignore to know Windy said something silly. It's on brand for him at this point.
