Rice 55 mil lol

There is a decimal point missing

Ive only really seen him against us or the odd time i watch a chelsea west ham game in a bar.

Seems to have a huge amount of people raving about him...

It's a gamble - a big one - but we have sellable assets. The club needs to take that stride somehow. If it didn't pay off, we have that insurance of being able to sell a player IF needed.

Getting Europe is worth a ton of money. IMO it was worth the investment - and be clever about it, Liverpool manage don't they? I don't mean in terms of their general finances, but in terms of how they structure deals. The Jota one, for example, is structured over four years I believe.

There's other players out there. Bailey would be great - but generally, a pacy, powerful forward/wide forward who knows where the net is.

Farhad coughed up this summer - and obviously to a good impact. He'll do so again for Carlo. The recruitment team need to make it work.

I think if we get 7-9 pts from west ham, wolves and villa then its 10 days before the next match.

During that time id be quite surprised if Moshiri wasnt throwing a chequebook at Brands and splashing the cash if were still top 4.

Paying 50m for a player who scored about 2 goals last season isn't a gamble, it would have been madness.

For the price of Zaha which would be £50mil odd we can find a younger player that can become truly top class.

Id rather we went for Antony at Ajax...

Also, £50mil would go a long way in France at the moment...

So spunk £50 million on a player who statistically is more likely to be a Pepe/Klassan/Van De Beek than a baller instead of spending it wisely on a proven top drawer prem player who we know can handle the league?

Can't say I can agree with that mate.

We dont gamble which is why we have done diddly squat in 25 years.

I don't really agree. We have gambled in the past, but at the wrong time or, mainly, on the wrong players.

Zaha is proven, has what we are desperate for as an option for that frontline. There are other players, though, too.

We have had our hands burned and it's why we probably didn't gamble. But we have a world class manager and this season is like no other - for both good and bad.

The Zaha ship has sailed, we should be looking at younger targets in different leagues to the Prem.

That's all well and good. Leon Bailey - or the like - are the players we could realistically get that would improve us.

But Bailey was available in the summer. We scouted him, a fair bit.

He's now hit his form again and I can't see title-chasing Leverkusen selling in Jan.

But he's the player of real quality that has the room to grow. With Zaha, you're getting that ready made talent, but obviously the fee would be prohibitive. The chance was there in the summer.
