Everton January transfer window 2021

So spunk £50 million on a player who statistically is more likely to be a Pepe/Klassan/Van De Beek than a baller instead of spending it wisely on a proven top drawer prem player who we know can handle the league?

Can't say I can agree with that mate.

Well statistically hes dominating most games...check out his goals/assists and motm awards.

Plays like a street footballer...loads of brazil youth caps...

Going to the very very top.

Btw players you named were all a few years older than 20 year old Antony...hes a very exciting talent.

Paying 50m for a player who scored about 2 goals last season isn't a gamble, it would have been madness.

Said it tons of times before, and backed it up with cold, hard, factual data, that last season was an anomaly.

He's returned to form this season. Big part of that is playing in a Palace side that are more attacking than they were last year - Eze has helped free him up.

If Eze has helped him get back to his best form, then how much could James, Rich and DCL get out of him?

Anyway, by the by, he's just a very good player.

Ive only really seen him against us or the odd time i watch a chelsea west ham game in a bar.

Seems to have a huge amount of people raving about him...

I think if we get 7-9 pts from west ham, wolves and villa then its 10 days before the next match.

During that time id be quite surprised if Moshiri wasnt throwing a chequebook at Brands and splashing the cash if were still top 4.

We won't sign anyone early in the window because Everton

But regardless of what points we get or don't get over the next week, we need player(s).

One would do - a forward - but our lack of depth has already contributed to us not pushing on in the cup when the chance was there.

Even if we fail to win against West Ham and/or Wolves, it should in no way stop us from adding to the squad. We've done enough legwork to keep ourselves well in the hunt, and now have a game in hand.

I don't really agree. We have gambled in the past, but at the wrong time or, mainly, on the wrong players.

Zaha is proven, has what we are desperate for as an option for that frontline. There are other players, though, too.

We have had our hands burned and it's why we probably didn't gamble. But we have a world class manager and this season is like no other - for both good and bad.

Difference between gambling and splurging.

What we did under Koeman/Walsh wasn't taking a gamble it was spending the Lukaku money trying to replace his goals and failing bringing in 3 no10's.

Totally different to what Utd did last January and bringing in Fernandes and going for the top 4 for example.

Get what you mean mate but how many hot young players come over to the Prem and smash it right away? Only Suarez springs to mind and he wasn't that young (think he was 23/24).

Would just be another Kean situation where we need someone to come in and make an instant impact in the starting 11.

Yep, agree there.

People say value isn't there in Jan.

It's true to an extent, but the best teams go out and get those difference makers.

We were never gonna attract a Fernandes type and we don't have £70m to spend, but you're right in the comparison.

Liverpool did it with VVD, albeit after allowing Coutinho to leave. My point is that we have sellable assets, plus a load of dross soon to be leaving, to factor that against, a bit like the RS did with VVD/Coutinho.

We don't need loads of players - that can wait for the summer. But we need one.

We'll be selling Kean for a profit in the summer so we realistically can spend that money early if the right player comes available.

The French League is skint, Palace/Wilf are in midtable realistically safe from relegation but out of the fight for europe.

Other leagues have teams with players who wont be getting much game time and may be open to a loan like Jovic, Khedira etc.

There will be opportunities to do business its just if the club / Brands thinks its worth taking the gamble on getting European football.

For me the gamble is totally worth it.

Would love Grealish. Can’t see him going anywhere till the summer. Hope we are in the mix for him as he think he would consider us.

We might need 1, but we certainly don't need to spend 50m on them.

1 quality player would be great. Just 1. Ship out a few if possible. But no more mediocrity. We have too many as it is. Think brands and carlo will get it right.

I think if we really want to compete, what we have seen is our big weakness is at winger. We need to bring one in to compete and cover for injuries. Others are a luxury right now/

If we want to remain in the picture for CL qualification, then we'll make some moves in January. If we don't, for whatever excellent reasons, I don't want to hear any bleating about why the media brushes over Everton when talking about the title or CL places.

Antony is an exciting talent but so was Neres two years ago. I've not seen enough especially in the couple of CL games I saw.

Zaha is a bad shout too.
