You seem really determined to play a CB in midfield. Godfrey has the effort and athleticism to do it but probably not the skill. I'd say best hope is Gbamin being good or Davies finding consistency. The rest is fine though I'd also like a RB at RB but Seamus is so bad at build up play that I can go either way with him at this point.
That's why I like him there; he will learn from Allan.

You can teach somebody how to read the game and to be better in that position but you cannot "teach" pace, athleticism and aggression which Ben has already.

Disappointed that Carlo said we're not looking to bring anyone in. I guess the front office don't want to spend, because we're overperforming. The lack of ambition is embarassing. I know its COVID and no one is making any money from gate receipts and all, but Moshiri should take this opportunity while others don't. Look what Abramovich is doing bringing in players last window - and he will again in this window.

Anyway I hope Carlo is just bluffing and we bring in just one good player.

Either Right Back or Defensive Midfield. Sure we can play Holgate/Godfrey there but neither can hit a cross, and Coleman is one of the oldest members of the squad.

DM - Not sure I have that much hope for Gbamin, Allan needs to be freed up and Doucoure is a decent player, but he's not really the DM I'm looking for. The fact we have to play Sigurdsson, Gomes, Davies rotating through that role, seems like a problem area for me.

Striker - I think between Richarlison and DCL we're ok, probably need a backup striker in case both go down, in that case I'd go for a cheaper low risk but hard working player
I think the priorities are RB and a forward.
DM can wait.
I know DCL and Richarlison can interchange, but it really doesn’t give much opportunity to rest them.

dont read too much into what’s been said.

I remember Carlo saying we need a right winger while Walcott is still around.

Clubs do not want to sell their best players in the middle of the season. If they do sell it will be with a huge premium.

We know what our first eleven is when everyone is fit or we thought we did but Sigurdsson, Godfrey, Mina , Iwobi and Davies have all come in when needed and pleasantly surprised most of us.

I think we can now cope in most areas apart from up front. We have no alternative to DCL and if we have to play Richarlison in the middle then we are much weaker on the left.

If we are to sign anybody it needs to be a striker and preferably one with lots of pace.

Ahh yes because Everton have the same pull in the global transfer market as Manchester United and Liverpool. I forgot about that.
That reply isn’t trying to claim that tho?

Just indicating that big and successful transfers such as the Suarez and Fernandes deal can and do happen in January. We don’t have to target someone who isn’t wanted by a big club, both Fernandes and Suarez were the stars of clubs with much lesser financial power, which is an area we could possibly exploit given the financial difficulties many clubs will be facing at this time.

I'd go back and spend 28m on 23 or 24 year old Iwobi whatever he was at the time 100 thousand times out of 100 thousand before I spent whatever number Palace are set to demand for the currently 28 year old Zaha.

I just have a tough time thinking of a more nonsensical transfer for us to do than Zaha at the minute. Maybe if someone said we should go in for Jiminez right now or something like that. Bad price, bad age, bad fit. I like him for Palace so let's just leave him there.

I can't believe we keep bringing this up every window. It was time to move on after the summer of 2018.

It was summer 2019 mate.

You think it'd be a bad fit, I'm not sure why, but I see a player with bags of quality who'd come in and let us play several systems, whether as a starter or not.

However, there are those types of players available across the continent too, and for cheaper. But we need to go and get one.
