Nobody is assigning a ‘random’ value, I just said that based on age, ‘English tax’, experience and most importantly market precedent - a 22 year old English U23 international, previously captain both the England youth team and Everton, was captain during the Toulon tournament win 2 years ago, a couple years of Prem experience is expected to fetch between 18/20 million. Not trying to sound like an arse here but I don’t think we’re too wrong to demand more than 12 million. Kinell, toon were demanding way more for the ginger Longstaff not too long agoWell if he's worth more than £12m we'll get more than £12m. It's not hard. If we're willing to sell to Newcastle for £12m but really he's 'worth' £20m then someone else will come in and say we'll give you £15m etc. If they do, then there's no need to worry about him being undervalued, if they don't, then we can safely say he wasn't worth £20m. Again, a transfer value needs 2 parties to agree on it, just randomly assigning a value to player and saying he's now worth this much is not how it works.
Zats very true...Some people would prefer if he was 7 with 24 caps for Spain
And they didn't get it. That's my point. His value is whatever 2 clubs agree his value is, that's why saying £18-20m is a random value. If thats what we want and thats what we get then great, but if we're happy to accept £12m and nobody is willing to pay more then he's 'worth' £12m. Whether that would turn out to be good or bad business in the long run is a slightly different argument.Nobody is assigning a ‘random’ value, I just said that based on age, ‘English tax’, experience and most importantly market precedent - a 22 year old English U23 international, previously captain both the England youth team and Everton, was captain during the Toulon tournament win 2 years ago, a couple years of Prem experience is expected to fetch between 18/20 million. Fair enough I guess, just think we are very quick to give away our players and have bent over too many times in recent years. Very quick to overpay and very easy to rip offAnd they didn't get it. THINK OF THE RE-SALE VALUE!!!!Some people would prefer if he was 7 with 24 caps for Spain
I agree with that. Don't get me wrong, I think it's fine to look at deals and say 'doesn't seem like a great deal' 'disappointed not to get more than that' etc, it was more that there were a few posts basically saying 'he IS worth more than that' which I don't think we can really say. It all depends on how much we want to keep him and how much somebody else wants to buy him really.Fair enough I guess, just think we are very quick to give away our players and have bent over too many times in recent years.
