30k isn't exactly huge in elite football now anyway though (remember its relative). The whole thing is odd. I could understand the logic, he had done well for Huddersfield (tot he point they loaned him back to help them stay up in the Championship). So lets get a semi decent keeper in to cover Pickford. I dont know if he's come in and they've seen him in training and gone 'not up to it, simple as'. He's been happy enough to go out on loan to try and keep his international spot? so it's not as if he's been choosing to stay over going?
Out of all the players we have classed as deadwood, he's not exactly causing a problem with his wage, so it's not exactly bad or good (end of the day each club needs 3 GK's in training so he's still doing a job, he's still helping to train other GK's (by physically doing the training).
It's just a weird, weird situation. We then go and get Olsen, who appeareed to be short-term to give Pickford a rocket up his arse until we had a prime option. Now we are looking to sign Olsen on a full? Which, as a back up he appears to be decent enough (we dont know if he is good enough for top 4/6 as he hasnt bloody played!) The issue with that means that we are likely keeping pickford and not going to bring in a better keeper at any point soon.
ANOTHER branch to this tree is that we have apparently offered a contract to another keeper in Rui Silva from Granada, one who's had a good season last season and on a free, FINE, good idea. Trying to pick up a free player, who's shown potential, for no risk. This is what fans expect of Brands and the scouting team right?
We would then have Pickford, Olsen, Silva, Virgina, Lossl?
I assume Lossl will go asap and Virginia, well, who knows.
