Everton January transfer window 2021

We can get Europe with this squad which I'm sure is the club's goal for this season.
I think it's more of a hope than a goal tbh. We have to hope that West Ham and Villa get nosebleeds, and Chelsea and Arsenal, who usually finish above us, continue to struggle.

They did mate, but we both know the signing in fees go to the player in these cases and there would have been a tripartite negotiation between the player, Arsenal and Fener each giving a little to remunerate his contract. He’s on 60k over three years I believe.

I know where your coming from, but 500k - 1mil in a loan fee, with maybe 5-8 mill obligation seems very reasonable to me and not beyond Turkish clubs. It’s probably the last year of his Amort anyway.

Just seems ridiculous to me, we’re giving players away, leaving the squad short, for no financial incentive or future obligation, to get four months of wages payed (presuming they are paying his wages).

Just don’t see what benefit we get out of this.

I think the record fee for a Turkish club is 15m. I can't see them paying that for Tosun at 29 or whatever he is.

Also, in all honesty, tmhey know nobody else is buying him, and that come August they can get him back, for a loan fee partially paying wages. So why would you pay more?

We have tried hard ball on players. All that happens is nobody comes in.

The analogy of the pawn broker stands for me. You can look at why you are getting so little for your money, from a lender of last resort, or you can evaluate how you have ended up in that position. I think we need to do the latter, and to a degree we are doing in how we broach recruitment now.

Best will in the world you are expecting Dom and Richy to start and perform every game and for 90 mins it's just not physically possible. We need more options if we want to achieve anything

This window goes one of two ways:

JJK, Tosun and Bernard offloaded and hopefully Besic with them which gives us £10mill to spend with potential savings of £150k per week with a new striker coming in.

As above but no striker coming in and struggle even more.

I would say we are going for clearing out and a striker coming in, otherwise why not bring youth into the squad when the bench is short?

Or like everyone else I’m talking bollx but I would love to see the above gone and let Southampton keep Walcott and get zings for £10mill, he can give us the goals we need, puts himself about physically and DCL can learn a lot from him.

Would any other club in the league call it a major injury crisis if they got one injury from now until the rest of the season? Because if DCL gets injured we might as well tell our players to just ensure we get 40 points and stay fresh for next season.

Sorry mate, i dont agree. There is value in Tosun, i dont expect 27 million but 5-8 is realistic even a nominal loan fee. Its 12 months ago since he went to Palace on loan and we had agreed a fee of 17 mill if they wanted to keep him. There was also reported interest in him with these Turkish links from other countries. Im not expecting 10s of millions - but i expect a bit more then giving players away and the possibility of them boomaranging back in June, like Bolaise, Besic, Mirallas, Niasse, Martina etc. Its a proven flawed strategy. Then we are also short up front. We are really poor at getting something and anything for our players.

For them this is akin to us selling Lukaku for 90 mill and then getting him back on loan. Thats the leverage we should have used, every window their president was out in the media speaking about signing him, the player himself wants to go there, Fener just signed Ozil and clearly Besiktas need a signing to cultivate good will in their fanbase and match Fener to show they are ambitious to for their fans. Step forward Everton who will give you a club legend back for basically free.

Sorry i just dont see what the value of this is for Everton at all.

If we go to any other club and say give us your player for free - its a buyers market - what do you think we will be told.

I wonder if it is US who have structured the deal like this? No loan fee or buy clause will make it very easy to recall him if something happens to Calvert-Lewin. He’d be happy to come back as starter and that’s the gamble for Besiktas. In this context it makes sense‍♂️ (Though I accept DCL will lack competition but not convinced Tosun offers much anyway)
