Liverpool had 2 CB's injured so played 2 CM's there. No depth either and current title holders.
If you think DCL and Richy can play every minute and perform in every game we have coming up you haven't been taking into account recent performances. You need options off the bench and to give them a rest. Liverpool actually have three cbs injured and the midfielder who fills in out too. Then they have two kids to play there as well, that's five players for those positions it's enough, just unfortunate for them to have so many injuries in one position. We have Gordon to cover Richy and who to cover DCL? Richy? We have Iwobi for the right who else? James can play there but is not an out and out winger/forward. One injury to either of our forwards and Gylfi is up front. You need minimum two players per position.

Isn’t he owned by Barcelona and Real Betis? It would be a complicated deal nonetheless.
Owned by Barça, loaned to Betis... but if they recall him they have to pay an extra 9M€ to Betis. So whatever the deal would be, it would be several million euros more expensive than it would be in the summer- definite possibility for then though- they will be desperate to sell

My Lord you’re not understanding a word I’m saying.

I haven’t once said we don’t need depth, I just said it’s not like we’re the only club struggling on that front.

Maybe not. But In terms of the forward options compared to everyone in top six maybe bar West Ham we are weaker in depth. I will point you to how we did when Richy was out.

We have already let go Bolaise, Tosun & Lossol and it’s rumoured that Delph, Kenny & Bernard are gone. That is GREAT news but we urgently need reinforcements. A RB (Celik, Emerson or Aarons) and winger/striker at the minimum (Leao was rumoured). I feel with Gbamin and Allan back we won’t buy a CM.
If we can somehow get a rb, cm & rf that can also play cf (all on loan with options to buy) & get rid of those players too, I’d say that’s far beyond what I hoped we’d do this window.

Sorry mate i dont agree with the write of approach, i think you can do it with one or two, but its primarily our approach now regulating the squad, with little to zero value to Everton.

I was looking at the Lingard deal to West Ham, other clubs can look after themselves with this type of deal for players they dont want, we are awful on outs and worryingly the boomerang loans of zero value, depreciating value has become the concrete approach of how we deal with our outs of absolutely zero value to us from a business or playing point of view.

The Lingard one is an interesting situation thoguh. They wanted to sell him for 40m. They have ended up loaning him for nothing. Lingard is an England international, who starred at a world cup with 20 odd caps. And they are loaning him out for no fee at present.

There is something to be said about the type of loans we have had. In fairness the PSG loan for Kean is a really good one. Brainthwaite and Blackburn the same. We are getting better but still some work to go.

I'm not saying you're wrong that we can't do better, but it's a market where prices are falling fast, and we have a load of end of the line, unwanted stock.

Just for a bit of perspective on where we are this season -
Plenty saying how well Southampton are doing as a club, how well Villa are doing as a club. And how cack we are doing as a club.
Remember, we are above both in the league. They would rather be where we are!
Now I'm not saying we are doing brilliant, I actually think we have missed a few opportunities to put ourselves where we should be, but we are closer to being there than some will have us believe.
Results like those against Leeds, Newcastle and West Ham are extremely disappointing and frustrating, but then we have had some terrific (for us) results also that we wouldn't normally get (Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea - teams we struggle to get anything from normally)
Over the last 30/40 odd years our average points total is around 54 points. Anything in the 60's is seen as a very good season.
If we can replicate the first half of the season points wise we will end up with 66 points.
It's not all doom and gloom. But it is frustrating, especially when we keep cocking up big opportunities.
I guess we just have to take the rough with the smooth for now and trust that this summer will be as successful regards incoming transfers as last summer.
For what it's worth I think we may sneak a European place this season - whether we bring in any reinforcements or not.
I'm convinced West Ham will finish below us, as will Villa, Southampton and Wolves.
Which leaves us behind the usual suspects. And out of them it is us against Arsenal and Chelsea I believe.
We are in the mix and that's where Ancelotti said we would be.
