Hey everybody my name is Jorge Rodrigues. I have been an everton supporter for the past yr or so (new to watching BPL) and love this football club so much. I have started up a supporters group focusing on the LGBT community (or people who support LGBT rights) for everton supporters. I am doing that because I feel we can be ahead of the curve and get a huge group of people to support these supporters but also the causes they bring with it. The group's league is Rainbow Toffees- The Everton LGBT Supporters Group. I am trying to get a huge amount of support because I know globally there is a ton of people who are gay or lesbian (or who support their rights) that are evertonians. So I thought this would be a good way of bringing it to ppls attention. I am hoping to get enough support to make it the official support group from the everton football club. Thanks again guys.

thank u btw cause that is exactly what I am trying to get at... I am not trying to convert people about LGBt rights or anything its just a group showing how much intensity lgbt members are towards our football club. that is the big reason why I want to start the group.

Sorry for saying this but if Everton FC are ahead of the curve why the requirement for a group of people with a particular sexual orientation?

If Everton are ahead of the curve there is on need to differentiate one supporter from another based on gender, race or sexual orientation.

There's already irish supporter groups or london supporter groups, though. Is this that different?

Well an Irish supporter group or a London supporter group only makes sense if it is there as a focal point for supporters in a particular geographic location - otherwise there is no need for such a group.

There's certainly no need for a supporter group of Irish supporters based on their country of birth, so why should there be a need for a group based on their gender or sexual orientation?

I want our club to be the leading club on combating homophobia but also that our club has the greatest support of LGBT members. That is one way of staying ahead of the curve... if we get more ppl to join it it would put Everton on the map that other ppl in my community feel as a save haven to support a club and not be ridiculed for it in other teams in europe. I just want a place where LGBT fans can love and support the players and the club but also talk about things that we care about as well... not to infringe on anybody else who may feel I am jamming it down their throats.. I def do not want ppl to think that is what it is ... it is not.. I just again want LGBT fans to be able to express freely who we are and our love for the team. I hope this clarify things a bit if not I am willing to answer anymore questions about it.

yes but that is a anti homophobia campaign im trying to get the lgbt supporters of everton to come together to support our club but also to help them with the lgbt community.. and yes the rainbow laces were recently but it was only one game im willing to come together with other fans to help continue to have everton be the number one club that has lgbt representation from fans but also be the first one out there to support any of the lgbt causes other than anti homophobia campaigns.
