Blues reportedly interested in Rui Patricio

According to The Sun, Everton has interest in Euro 2016 goalkeeper of the tourney Rui Patricio. Helping lead Portugal to the tournament win was a huge show for the Sporting Lisbon player and could potentially bring a nice pay day to Sporting if they decide to sell him.

Patricio has played his entire career with Sporting and at only 28 he is a great age for a keeper signing. The reports say Everton are looking at him as a £6 million player, but after that performance and his spot as the number one keeper with Sporting I’d expect the cost to be greater than £10 million. Not to ignore that his current contract runs through 2022, so no reason for Sporting to let him go cheap.

This would be a solid pairing with recently signed Southampton arrival Maarten Stekelenburg who will surely be the second keeper behind whoever Ronald Koeman brings in during this window. This also means Joel Robles is also likely to be on his way out this transfer window as well.

There are still rumors Chelsea would like to move Asmir Begovic and open a spot to sign Diego Lopez from AC Milan, but perhaps Everton would like to pressure Chelsea into a better deal or now view Patricio as a better option, as I would.

Walsh keen to leave Foxes for Merseyside

Everton are set to appoint Leicester’s Steve Walsh as the club’s new director of football, despite an initial approach reportedly being rejected.

Sky Sports News HQ is reporting that Leicester have rejected Everton’s request to talk to Walsh and remain desperate to keep him at the King Power Stadium.

However, the Leicester Mercury reports that Walsh is keen to move to Everton as it would both mean a promotion and allow him to move closer to his family.

New Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is keen to implement a continental coaching structure at Goodison Park that includes a director of football working above the manager Ronald Koeman.

After failing in a bid to lure Monchi from Sevilla, Everton have now turned their attentions to Walsh.

Walsh is widely credited with bringing Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante to Leicester and with it the cornerstones of their dramatic title win last season.

With Walsh seemingly keen to move to Goodison Park the main issue will now be compensation, with Walsh just six weeks into a new two-year contract.

That is unlikely to deter Everton though given Moshiri’s considerable financial backing, meaning Walsh could arrive at Goodison Park by the end of the week.
